Meh. I’m not mad at the guys or CPM for the year they had, they were short handed all the way through.

I also don’t want to celebrate being 9-6 against teams that made it to Omaha. We’re better than that.

But when it counts, we are at home watching. That’s all that matters. Moral victories are for the weak minded. This was not a good team this year. Injuries and bad recruiting took its toll. Next year should be better.

Baseball is different
A lot can change when you play those opponents

Miss St started off bad and was dead in the water, they just refuse to lose right now
When LSU played Fla, they had already locked up a national seed and super, there was not much to play for. Now they are primed to play for it all again with that staff. It's rare you have that quality as starters.

Texas was an early series and both teams were finding their way. Both teams had a dominant win and Game 2 really could have gone either way.

Aside from the opening series, we were actually a pretty good team at home this year

Every time we went into a hostile environment though, everything seemed to fall apart.

this illustrates an interesting dichotomy between fans. last year, there were so many people on the board who kept pointing out how many regular season wins, sect wins, national seeds mainieri has. my response is that's not how elite teams measure their program. CWS wins is what really separates the elite from the really good.

he's acquitted himself well at the cws since '09. top 5 nationally. the debate is whether or not that's acceptable for the premier program in the nation. no matter how many facts i cite about lsu being the top program, the "national seed" crowd insists on giving him a pass because of parity.

I mean yeah but it’s kinda bullshite to discount what those kids did in Hoover, playing with half a deck they gave it their all. We were just fuched by injuries all year

I think by the end of the CWS everyone will start to fill a bit better. It appears right now that Oregon State might be the #1 team in the nation and not Florida. If Oregon State smacks everyone in the face in Omaha we should be pretty happy. We blossomed late in the year and got unlucky being put in that region. Any other region and we have a legit shot at supers and possibly Omaha.

Boy boy boy am I tired of this line of thinking?

Do you goobers expect to win it all every single year? I HOPE to win it all every year but there is no way to expect it realistically.

We were 0-2 against the Oregon State team that returned most of a team that had the BEST REGULAR SEASON EVER just 1 year ago. They returned most of their playmakers as well as one of the best pitchers in the entire country. They also were playing the team that eliminated them last year in Omaha. The same team that suffered a cornucopia of injuries throughout the year and limped into a regional.

Did yall not see the writing on the wall? I watched and rooted but it was a pretty slim chance we were going to beat them even once. They were out for blood against a decimated squad that is terrible at home in front of the home crowd.

Wonder what the folks @ ole miss are saying about their failure to get to Omaha, once again?
Once the Tigers were sent west, our season was doomed. OSU is a really good team, not only pitching, but their ability to hit is going to carry them to the finals.
Tigers played their hearts out to get where they did. It wasn't for a lack of effort on their part. Being out manned is not an excuse, it is the reason they were sitting @ home this past weekend.
Can't wait for it to start over in February. Tigers should make a run next year, unless they catch the injury bug again.

I think I'm more impressed that we had more than half of Omaha on our regular season schedule.

I find that to be pretty incredible as well.

Anyone shitting on this thread is misguided. In a down year, with a shite ton of injuries, we played well against some of the best teams in the country. We aren't that far from where we want to be.

That's not taking a moral victory. It's pulling the positive out of an otherwise depressing season.
