As I said a couple of times already I grew up in New Orleans watching the greatest football in CFB history played in the dome. I know that setting better than most if not all of you LSU fans. And that's what you're facing with our crowd. We made the Sugar Bowl. It would not be half the venue it is without Alabama. And for those of you that say our players weren't even born when all that was going on, that is true. But they came to Bama because of our tradition and our history in places like New Orleans. This is at least as much a home game for us as it is for you. Our fans and our players know it because we live it everyday.

Would someone please pull BAMA out of the past. Coach Bryant is dead and he's never, ever coming back!

Not easy and this is our best team since Bryant was our coach.

That's a pitiful statement.

Say what you will but its the truth. This team is better than our 92' or our 09' championship teams. Those teams needed some luck to get though those seasons. We haven't needed it, with the exception of the game with you guys. Our defense and offense is better than yours but our weakness in the kicking game evens things up a bit. I'm pretty sure Saban will find a way to neutralize that weakness in the 6 weeks he's had to prepare for this one. I'll say this as my last post on this thread. If you win this one you will be considered one of the greatest teams ever. But I'm pretty sure we're coming out with a 10pt+ win this time. No matter the outcome its going to be the greatest CFB game in decades.

Not really. They are very comparable. Your defense has slightly better stats against weaker (and more than slightly) competition. I'm being generous and calling it even - your LBers are a little better, the DLs are a "pick 'em" and our DBs are a little better.

Offense, your team is almost entirely focused on 1 great player. We have 4 great players at his position, plus a better #1 receiver - and 2 QBs who can play, although it depends on which version shows up, who's sick, off-the-field problems, etc. Again, the offenses are about equal, no generosity this time.

Our special teams are in a different league than yours.

The great thing about all this talk is we get to play the game on January 9th. The Bear will not be there. The 2011 LSU football team, being talked about, rightly so, as 1 of the greatest NCAA football teams of all time - will be there.

Around the bowl and down the hole.

I do agree the crowd will be closer to 50/50 than many LSU fans think. But....

Our defense and offense is better than yours

You can make argments for each one over the other. Only a homer, an idiot, or both would speak in such definitive terms.

I'm pretty sure Saban will find a way to neutralize that weakness in the 6 weeks he's had to prepare for this one

Did he find new kickers in the last 6 weeks? Is he going to poison our kicker and punter? What could he possibly do in 6 weeks that he wasn't smart enough to do in the offseason, Fall camp, and the 9 weeks prior to 11/5?

quote:

But I'm pretty sure we're coming out with a 10pt+ win this time

I'm pretty sure you probably thought that the first time as well.

Brah, the Bear played four games there in the late 70s.

They own the fricking place. We are so damn screwed.

I live in Alabama and let me tell you, the sports talk shows are soooo aggravating now. They are such homers, yet try to act like they're unbiased professionals. They'll put on all these gumps with their talking points about how and why they are the real winners of Nov 5, and that they are going to skull-frick us in the Dome. Delusional doesn't even describe the people here. It is going to be such a long month!

Alabama has played in 3 Sugar Bowls post 1980, losing 2 of those games. I doubt many current players/recruits were aware of the what Bama's Sugar Bowl record was more than 30 years ago, or really care. Post 1980, LSU has been to 7 Sugar Bowls (and/or BCSCGs), 6-2, 4 straight wins and won 2 national championships in the Dome.

Over the last 30 years LSU leads Alabama 15-14-1, and has won 7 of the last 10 meetings. LSU has more SEC championships in the last 30 years than Alabama, and an equal number of national championships over that period. Over the last 10 years, LSU has clearly had the more successful program.

And the Sugar Bowl has a long history, including appearances by the 1958 National Champion LSU team and the famous 1959 LSU-Ole Miss rematch, and has been one of the premier bowls in college football.. Alabama is part of that history, but one has an inflated view of Alabama if one thinks that Alabama "made" the Sugar Bowl.

Are you referring to the team that just lost to LSU a month ago?

So, your defense and offense are better, but LSU managed to get in better position to score because LSU's defense stopped Alabama's offense and Alabama's defense couldn't keep LSU from scoring 3 field goals? I am convinced. Exactly what is it that makes Alabama, who couldn't really control LSU's running game when it mattered, a better defense?

Alabama is a really good team, but better? Don't think that case has been made yet. So far, the answer is "no."
