Look, we knew this year would be a significant drop off. If you weren't concerned, you weren't paying attention. With the loss of Juniors: Queen, Delpit, Jacobs, and Chaisson...and the opt outs on the D line, we knew we would be thin on the line...and weaker in the secondary. More so with the Sr. that we lost.
The biggest clue that O knew we were in trouble was his signing of an undersized but talented transfer LB to shore things up.
On the O-line we lost: McGee, Lewis, Cushenberry, and Charles...
The biggest clue the O knew we were in trouble on the 0-line was the signing of an OL from Harvard to shore things up.
Clearly, he tried some stop gaps, but that can only do so much with a depleted team.
Now, erbody on TD is fuming that bama didn't lose key Juniors to the league, but the reality is that our Juniors were ready and smart to go. They are tearing it up in the NFL and doing this program proud. They already reached the pinnacle and moved on.
O is lining up an incredible class that will breath new and improved life into this young, thin team. He knows what we need, and is getting us set up for a better year next year, and a great year to follow.
Bottom line, if you're a young, talented player that dreams of the NFL, the success of our Juniors and the prospect of building us back up is hugely appealing.
We comin'

Keep the excuses coming.

giving up and avg of 44 points to 2 of the worst teams in the SEC is unacceptable no matter what transpired last year.
go peddle that shite elsewhere.
O took a holiday, found him some 35 yr old strange, and the program was put on cruise control. We made lazy hires to replace Aranda and Brady and its all backfired

I mean It’s an excuse but it’s also a reason.
We had 17 guys peak at the same time.
Even that 2010 Alabama team that went 10-3 brought back major players.

no excuse for being embarrassed by state and mizzou

quote:I dont want him fired yet, but this is completely unnacceptable and he needs to fix it, quick
Look, we knew this year would be a significant drop off.
quote:
Mizzou and State are up 89-75 vs LSU; they are down 61-146 vs everyone else
Just a little more perspective
They scored 28 more points in two games v lsu than the 5 other games combined
So against LSU, they average a win of 44-37
Against everyone else, they average a loss of 12-29

Well let’s see how this class finishes. If we have a losing season and the recruiting class tanks. I would start to get a little concerned Lol. But you’re right, if we finish strong in recruiting this cycle I think we will be fine in the long run with O.

Doesn’t mean the excuses are wrong.
Logical fans expected a big step back even without all of the coronavirus and sjw stuff.

Great coaches have teams prepared.
We're sluggish, out of shape and have shitty personnel - coaches included.
Deal with it.

Yeah but not losing to Missouri and Moo State. Have you seen what the other schools that have played both of them have done?

While I think that O gets this year and next regardless of outcome cuz of the 2019 season results, he is not above criticism for how the team currently looks.
There is no way to sugar coat how bad the vast majority of the team has played.

We are losing to teams that are significantly less talented. There is no excuse for that.
Posted on 10/21/20 at 9:38 am to MichiganTiger
look that does not excuse losing to fricking state and mizzou. these are all reasonable points if we had losses to UF and Bama right now. However, we have losses to two teams we should dog stomp no matter what. That is the issue

Orgeron is a big man. he can handle himself. He doesn't need you to defend him. he even said himself "put it all on coaching". this is the nature of the job he took. and there is massive pressure. he understands that and results speak.

this excuse would be fine if the losses weren't to 2 of the 3 worst sec teams.
it is fricking insane to make excuses for losing to state and mizzou. we should beat them no matter what we lose.

A significant drop-off from 15-0 is 8-5. (See 2007 to 2008 drop-off)
A losing record is walking off a cliff.

No one, including the team, was saying this for the defense. Even if you expected a drop off, you're lying if you said you expected what State and Mizzou have done to us (especially considering what they've done against other teams).

A lot of people thought last year was just the perfect storm for O with Burrow Brady and Aranda. O gets all the credit in the world for building an amazing team last year but can he sustain a program is the question. Hiring a dinosaur like Pelini isn’t helping the doubters. I also think a lot of people aren’t considering his divorce as a major distraction as well. I mean he’s human and a divorce fricks with everyone.
