The chances of O still being the HC by 2020 are really slim. His seat will most likely be scorching hot after the 2018 season due to the schedule and his OC hire. He will have to have one hell of a 2019 season in order to survive. This is the opinion of many here and outside the rant. I have a relative that knows O personally and loves him but he even thinks that O won't survive and he's in over his head.

Does that honestly not concern you?

Naah our offense hasn't changed much in the past 20 years

I dont like the Ensminger hire. And hell I melted for a good while over it.

However I do think that he is quite possibly one of the best coaches on staff. He has the knowledge to be successful and I do know that he was Cam Cameron's biggest opponent in the office.

I wanted Briles, Freeze, or Gilbert as well but im willing to give this a shot.

Hell if its a disaster then this experiment is over that much quicker. If it's successful then we ride.

Its a huge risk. Not one i like taking but it does have the potential to pay off

Maybe so. Or maybe the opinions of a few coaches and players along with some pretty average numbers do little to sway the argument for either side.

From the article

quote:

Speak to his son about the binders his father keeps tucked away

No wonder no search was needed. He had multiple binders. Impressive!

Besides the fact this is all from the 90s and the game has changed immensely since then...

quote:

Ensminger improved A&M’s passing offense marginally, but the Aggies showed promise. The unit went from 61st nationally in total offense after his first season to 34th after his third in 1996. The improvement did not result in wins. A 6-6 record led to Slocum firing several assistants, including his offensive coordinator.

Then after this quote, the article goes on to say how he has learned from his mistakes. Sound familiar to anyone?

I’ve heard this same quote about every OC hire in the last decade. Excuse me if I’m somewhat skeptical that someone who’s been on staff for 8 of those years will miraculously be the one to achieve it.

So given this great coaching history and acumen, do you care to ask why not a single program tried to hire him as an O.C. over the last 20 years?

Guy isn’t a bad coach but he’s never had any legitimate success as an O.C. yet somehow despite nobody wanting him, he’s magically great now?

Some of you are freaking deusional for O that it’s embarrassing.

No it doesn't.... Look at how great the offense looked after the 1st 4 games when Miles was canned... I know people say "we set those records against crap defenses"... But Miles played some pretty crappy ones as well and sometimes struggles to get A win....

Now you can say we sucked against Bama But don't most teams????? We lost to FLA that year but we had a great offense that day as far as stats... Stats don't mean crap to me.. But blasting O for the FLA game that year is stupid... I think he wil be better than the Canada experiment...

The big issue is he was not even a good OC 20 fricking years ago so why are we giving him a chance now?

He lost to fricking USL with his best offense in 3 years of avg offenses at A&M then was a miserable OC at Clemson.

Orgeron is not good enough of a coach to take chances at Coordinators. He has 1 good one and one that has never been a good OC.

The truth that he’s been the TE coach of a team with abysmal production out of the TE’s the last 10 years?

That wasnt his fricking offense and he has said as much that he will run an offense that he has never remotely run in his career is the asinine plan these guys have. And yes his playcalling worked against shite defenses and went nowhere against defenses with a pulse.

But give all the credit for 90 plus runs by NFL RBs to our OC lmao..

No, but I'd like to think we were capable of hiring someone more qualified and successful for the position of OC at what's supposed to be an SEC powerhouse. Especially since he's going to be making ALOT more than most people that go to school for eight years.

Was the offense really different than the 2015 offense?

If we couldn’t run all over a team how did we do?

Honestly I think That’s the logic O is using, it won games in 2016 why change?

And the answer is because it doesn’t work va good defenses.
