He did a great job filling in on short notice and holding things together, but people saying it was drastically better than anything under Miles simply have a poor memory.

There is no denying that he improved from the first 4 games but that was about as tight an offense as Les ever ran. It was 90% Fournette between the tackles. And Fournette was injured

It’s not too hard to improve on that when you have Guice at 100% and Missouri on the schedule. Bridgette was ripping them apart.

Wisconsin and Auburn were both top 5 in scoring defenses and top 20 total defense in 2016.

Anyone that thinks our offense wouldn’t have looked just as improved under Miles against Missouri, Southern Miss, Ole Miss, or Arkansas, none of which were in the top 80, is stupid or has a horse in the race.



Missouri was #112 against the run, Ole Miss was 120. Arkansas was 94.


What did anyone expect to happen??

Seems like I recall you coming here last August to tell us how the hire of Canada showed that Coach O was making all the right moves and the idea of having a head coach who simply step back and allowed his coordinators to do their jobs was so much better than what we had been seeing at LSU.

It didn’t take long for that plan to fall apart, but here you are again suggesting that a coach who hasn’t been hired in 20 years to call plays will be just fine for LSU.

I didn’t see how anyone could be overly optimistic about hiring a head coach that no one in college football had hired as a head coach in over a decade and I don’t see how anyone can be overly optimistic about having an OC that no one in college football had hired to call plays for a football team in over 20 years.

That’s not hating on anyone or wanting anyone to fail, that’s just college football common sense. imo

LSU football has been stumbling along for a number of years now and to this point in time, the hire for head coach we made in 2016 hasn’t improved anything. In fact, a reasonable case can be made that we are even stumbling more than we were before.

Its amazing how some fans will say that it was only his (SE) fourth game against Alabama or he didnt have a chance to install his offense but then they point to his positive stats he did against other teams! Truth is you cant have it both ways! He doesnt deserve credit at all because it wasnt his offense...win or lose!

Im saying with 100% certainty that SE called plays that he didnt design or install. Two seasons ago he called Cam Cameron's installed offense. Ensminger has stated that his offense next season will not be that offense as that was not his offense. Instead his plan is to install an offense he has no experience in.

The last time the man installed his own vision for an offense was one of the worst offenses in football.

Ensmingers last offense was 90th in the country.

He was fired then they improved to 44th.

Texas A&Ms offense was much better the year after Slocum fired him there as well.

Auburn was undefeated the year after his temp OC duties were complete there.

Lets not act like Steve Ensminger was ever successful as an OC. Maybe at La Tech?

I still don’t see anything in his past to get me overly excited..especially with our schedule next year..but who knows I guess?

Excited. Can't wait to see what Steve Ensminger has in store for LSU next season. Spring game can't get here soon enough.

Yeah....its a done deal. I dont want them to fail. I bleed purple and gold...cried when they lost as a kid and celebrated when we won it all. They could have an alien coaching us and I would still cheer but this hire doesnt give me any reason to be optimistic. But i guess we'll just have to see what happens. Im not content with 9 wins we are better than that with the players to prove it.

People say that because it's true. It's easy to set records against really bad teams if that's what you want to do. It was clear to most that O was intent on running up the score any chance he got because he wanted the HC job. How many records did LSU set against Florida and Alabama? You remember those teams. The only two teams we played who had a defense with a pulse against the run.

Not a single poster will have a problem with this post.

Ensminger seems like a really good man and has been a great Tiger, on the field and off.

It’s only a shame he wasnt the one jockeying for position with Alleva behind Miles’ back. ,

That way an actual Tiger could have been HC and represented us all with class. He would have hired a bright young OC to work with him to design an offense, O would be recruiting and coaching DL under Aranda, and we’d likely be in a much better position going forward.
