Man...it looks like they were running the same offense as Les Mile's old caveman offense.

Slinger is more athletic that I would’ve thought and quick release. Looked better than almost every LSU I’ve seen

Did you not see them whip the ball over the middle over and through the linebackers? Show me a Les Miles run team where they were allowed to throw the ball across the middle. Has marks to the sideline if ever.

Thanks for posting this! These were my Tigers. We had a great team, with so much talent. Seems like yesterday. ????

What year did LSU changed from the dark gold helmets?

I think it was Dietzel that did this, so 55? Dietzel also wore all gold, at least against UF in 57.

That 1952 Maryland team was loaded - they were ranked #2 when LSU played them in College Park. The Tigers were out-matched, ending that season 3-7.

Maryland lost their last two games that year to Mississippi and Alabama. It was their last year in the Southern Conference. They joined the ACC the following season.

The 1953 LSU yearbook, the Gumbo, boldly predicted that the new system "may revolutionize the football jersey manufacturing industry." It didn't."

I have that copy of the Gumbo from my father's junior year at LSU. It always intrigued me when I was a child perusing his copies of the Gumbo in the 1970s.

Why does the film for the 1952 game look like 4K compared to the late 70's games? Crazy!

Mainly because it was recorded on real film. The games from the 1970s were recorded on magnetic tape like Beta or VHS VCRs used. The magnetic recording deteriorate at a rapid rate whereas actual film lasts significantly longer.

One other thing I noticed about the 1950s v the 1970s was the difference in the helmet color. It was more of a true gold in the 1950s.

Thanks bow tie; brings back a lot of memories. Coach E was a favorite at one point; good college QB that obviously had football smarts if not all the talent.

I played BREC pee wee in 78. What team? I played for the Barouco Bengals under Garafola.
