Why have they gotten away from playing the "I'm from Louisiana" song before kickoffs?

People on this board have been complaining about this song for YEARS now. On top of that, the general consensus is that the piped in music is pretty universally abhorred. The past few games there has been a noticeable decline in the use of radio songs, and now someone is in here complaining that they are no longer playing "Wah Wah Wah Wah Weeziana." They literally cannot please anyone.

For the record, I am totally open to a new song. I just miss the excitement of hearing a song (any song) that got the team pumped following a score or to start the game/half.

It is still there to be played, but by the time the long and drawn out "It's Saturday Night in Death Valley" is finished Gamble has about kicked the ball already. Like has been discussed, the original version (2 versions ago, with the movie trailer voice over guy) finished about 20 seconds earlier and was perfect timing form the coin toss, to "I'm From La.", to kickoff.

Those people were wrong. The players get excited and bounce around to it.

The first half was pretty miserable.

And while we're at it, the "Oweo" from the band after TD's last entirely too long. At some point that needs to be cut in half and then something can be played to create some energy. An entire tv timeout of that, and the energy is gone.

Let me give you some cliffs from bama to make you feel better since we all consider Alabama to be the standard of college football. They play some random arse music between every. Single. Play. I'm talking like no moment of silence at all, and the band is never heard from aside from halftime and rammer jammer. They played shite like 'friends in low places', 'mr brightside', 'thunderstruck', some T swift, etc. Not exactly player pump up music. It felt cringeworthy at times and I had a headache at the end. Not to mention that their crowd has nothing on Death Valley. I had always assumed they were our equal from a crowd noise standpoint given similar stadium size and it's honestly not even close. The shakers make them so quiet. Oh, and they also had plenty of fans pouring out of the stadium in the fourth quarter despite it being reasonably close. And their traffic was every bit as bad as LSU
TLDR: I don't think our game day experience is as bad as you think

Let me get this straight: because you think bama has a shitty gameday experience, and you consider them the standard in college football, that makes it okay that we too have a shitty gameday experience?

Why should anyone be okay with LSU doing a sub-par job in the media department (A/V in the stadium) simply because bama does a shitty job too?

PS: It's okay to aspire to be better than bama, or anyone else for that matter.

Go to the Swamp. Tailgating right outside the stadium. Bar and restaurant district within a couple of blocks. FREE cold water stations with bottle fillers. Concession stands give you full the selection. Negligible bathroom lines. Busses right outside allow you to cool off at halftime and re-enter.

Our athletic department needs to step up..

Maybe you should start traveling to Tuscaloosa every Saturday. You seem to be enamored with that program.

You must be the A/V guy for the stadium pimping all this unadulterated B.S. crap. Piped in music has nearly ruined the the best atmosphere in college football. Funny how all these decades we didn't need it. Now that we can spin a tune and crank up the sound to deafening levels suddenly we cannot live without it.

I was at Ole Miss and Bama the game day experience absolute sux because they are ruled by the whims of the D.J. in the booth.

Thank god Aleva has seen fit to turn that shite down before it's too late.

The Golden Band probably needs time to adjust because they're so used to being over ruled by the Dj in the booth they need to get back into we run the show mode.

The times have changed. The band alone doesn't create the atmosphere it once did, tastes in music have changed.

Put today's fans in the atmosphere from 10 years ago and they wouldn't enjoy it, well not the younger fans.

Also if the players rather the piped in music to pump them up then pipe it in all damn game

And these introductions are so awkward and overdone that by the time the applause line is made all the juice has been squeezed out of the moment and what should have been/would have been a thunderously raucous explosion of applause and cheering turns into a half-hearted cheer and uncoordinated applause.
I cringe every time.
This can be done so much better.
When will this ever be addressed?

If you think 4 short paragraphs constitutes a novel, then congratulations, you’re fricking stupid. I can’t stand the dumbasses here who act like a very average length post on a site like reddit is somehow “trying too hard”. This website would be much better if there were more of him and less of you

True maybe should have said 20 to 30 years. Either way what gets the atmosphere going gas changed. OP makes great points
