re: Spring baseball stats through 6 scrimmages

He and Neal have the same amount of bunts. There are other ways to be productive… a 6+ pitch AB, moving runners over. Ks are zeros. I saw lots of his ABs in the fall. His contact is better. His approach is better. He will never hit 300 vs SEC pitching. But he can definitely finish the season around 240.

What’s that based on? Is he hitting a lot of hard balls that just aren’t finding the gaps?

You are brainwashing people with this shite
He might get thru March at .240 but the SEC is going to tear him up.

I'm especially tired of the Milazzo v Neal conversation considering we already know that both will play.

A productive out at the bottom of the lineup is what Milazzo can provide a lot of the time. He was integral in two runs yesterday for his team. Not a bad day for him even with just one hit.
Does Beloso have a chance to crack in as DH? I would love that story if he did and was productive for us.

If they’re not counted in the PA’s then I’m wrong and you got it right.
Learned something new just now. Sac bunts do not count against avg or obp, but sac flies do count against obp. I grouped the sacs into 1 in my stats. So my stats are incorrect to some degree. Scuba does not specify whether the sac on a player was a bunt or fly.
That said I still think I have a wrong formula in there somewhere. I will have to look into it.

If neither hits for average, the best glove will play. Both would get pinched if we are behind late.
That’s what it looks like early on.

What's Pearson's deal?

The reasoning is that a SH is an intentional forfeit of your chance at bat to move the runner over, so you're not penalized for it.
The SF is more of an accidental good outcome. You don't get penalized on your BA because it's still a good outcome, but since it's not intentional it still counts as a plate appearance.

I'm curious if Floyd's walks are because they are working his secondary pitches a ton. May not be calling his scrimmages the same as they would call his games. I know that was the case for the fall, but I didn't make it to any spring scrimmages to say that is for sure what it seems like.
I thought this too, but Floyd has had trouble with his command his entire time at LSU. And when you are primarily a fastball pitcher who might be in the starting rotation, that is somewhat concerning.

I didn’t realize Neal had so many Ks.

Is it just me, or is Hellmers's velo up? I previously thought of him as a control pitcher without really high velo.

Right. Makes perfect sense on why it is like that, I just never realized it. Always had it grouped together.

Don't worry, all the guys that haven't been to a single fall or spring scrimmage will be here to tell you how wrong you are.

quote:Honestly? Our horrible OOC schedule. If Milazzo can finish this spring around 0.180 with a 25% K rate vs what could be the best staff in the country, I don’t see why he couldn’t hit much higher vs guys throwing 85-90 which is what we will see a lot of before SEC. I know I’m on the high end. But I’m putting the high end out there. He’s obviously more likely to finish lower probably around 200 or 210 but this is the new optimistic me.
What’s that based on?

It took him 20min to crawfish off the .240 number lol

I really thought Skenes would give us Ohtani type numbers

I got asked to explain it so I did. I haven’t crawfished. I still think he can finish up there.
