That writer is not an accountant or financial advisor.

do you know how valuable a big that can pass is?

of course he should because lebron, westbrook, AD, karl anthony towns, john wall, etc used one more year of college to develop their game

Usually the first pick in the NBA draft can at least be a starter on the team that drafts him. Can anyone really see Simmons being a starter on a NBA

Simmons will score easier in the NBA next year then he does in college right now. In the NBA, limited help defense and limited zone defense will allow for better driving lanes.
He will still need to work on his shot in order to maximize his potential, but his lack of jump shot will not hurt the transition as much as some may think.

Yip. Amare and Ibaka are other ones I can think of now. Simmons needs to at least try a few jumpers while in college. Saying he should stay another year to "practice" is absurd.

No. Just no. He shoots under 30% from
Midrange this season.
Midrange this season.

Just this season he has
He shot 44% on average the past 2 years and 37% as a rookie

If you're saying he can hit threes you have to be talking about this season bc he only made 1 all of last year.

Kidd-Gilchrist was better than AD at Kentucky.

Considering a team like Philly or the Lakers or possibly the Pelicans will get him yes he will be a starter.

Surely he has been working on his shooting for years now, what makes people think he is suddenly going to be able to shoot the ball? Lebron was a big physical specimen who could shoot a little bit. Simmons is not a big physical dude and can't shoot at all what so ever.
Lebron could not shoot when he got in the NBA. Guys like Benny and Lebron are so good growing up that they don't need a jumper they just out talent and athlete anybody they go against.

I just don't see how his game fits into the NBA without a jump shot. He does have a lot of unique abilities that would be unstoppable with an accurate jump shot, but with out a jump shot I just don't see it. Can someone explain to me how he would fit into an NBA offense right now?
His jump shot will develop. NBA draft is all about potential. They don't need him to be a star day one. They want him to be a star year 4 or 5.

College basketball can only be experienced one time. A lot of players hate college and are only there to play basketball. Some really enjoy the experience but are told they need to jump on the big bucks as soon as possible. I have no way of knowing which Simmons is but if he enjoys college then why not stay two years.
He will make more money than he can spend in a lifetime if he invests wisely. One year won't make that big a difference. Of course if he doesn't like college or listens to the folks who want him to start earning as soon as possible, then he will be gone like a cool breeze.
And yes he would have more time to work on his jump shot with the pros.

Coach JJ probably undeveloped it.

Really comical. Like he's going to develop a fundamental skill that he doesn't already posess through JJs tutelage.
