Actually, it is more than one recruit...an ESPN reporter...and the Sporting News article author. It is NOT just "a recruit". Reread the article...you skipped a few lines.

Sporting News say Kiffin will stay at Ole Miss

Until he signs an extension, I will continue to believe he will not be the coach at Ole Miss next year.

LOL that reporter is just speculating. The sporting news reporter’s sources are a speculating espn reporter and a couple of three star recruits who were repeating what somebody else (not Kiffin) told them. LOL what do you expect them to be told in that situation?

It’s clearly somebody throwing something at a wall and hoping it sticks (like you did). The “if” at the end certainly does matter. It’s the reporter giving himself an out in case he’s wrong.

My somewhat plugged in Ole Miss friend says they are scrambling to put together a 120m 10 year deal for Lane right now.

If that is even remotely true do we have the appetite to do something like that. And even if not with this much competition this year someone probably will.

I just don’t see it. I’d be looking at the Campbells and Drinks of the world and locking them up by portal time.

When the news was reporting after the Oklahoma game that he told the fans that he was staying, he literally went back and told the press that wasn't what he even came close to saying, Lane is leaving Ole Miss, I don't know if it will be for LSU, but he is leaving.

Drink already makes 9mil per. It’s gonna take something similar to get him as well. So if Kiffin is out (he’s not) and we can’t afford him (we can) then drink is too

MS law will not allow a 10 year deal for a state employee

Believe you just passing on what was told, numbers may be off a bit but I think it’s in the ballpark. They are beating the bush for money for sure to make something big.

Unless he signed some crazy extension all of this is speculative. Long ways to go.

Joe Brady is the favorite to land the job according to betting sites and they kinda know their shite. Take it from a Notre Dame fan getting an NFL coordinator that is the talk of the town....we hired Charlie Weis coming of 3 Super Bowl wins as offensive coordinator for the Patriots.....what a mistake...again 3 Super Bowl wins as Offensive coordinator and we didnt win shite. Joe Brady hasnt won shite in the NFL as an offensive cooordinator...and hes had a bad arse at QB....you dont want him. You better hope they dont hire this guy.

Kelly wasn't even listed as an option for LSU the last go around.

Even Lane doesn’t know where he will be next year yet. If LSU offers him though he will accept the job.

Exactly this is the rub. For those that did not experience the Curley Hallman days avoid the hot coach riding the coat tails of the hot quarterback. What a disaster those days were for LSU.

Kiffin receives an automatic one-year extension for every season Ole Miss wins at least seven regular-season games. He hit that mark with Saturday's win over Oklahoma and inked his renewal on Tuesday.

I knew Kiffin had been offered a one-year extension on his contract but did not know that he had signed the contract. The article also states that he has a 7-year contract worth $72 million.............
