From this thread: LSU tailgaters...how do you treat visitors?

Please compare how LSU fans are treated at away games. I'm talking about the number of times you personally witnessed LSU fans being invited to opposing fans' tailgates, given free food and drink, had a good time.

My personal experience is that while it does happen, the percentage is much lower than how often opposing fans are invited into LSU fan tailgates, and given free food and drink.

Most opposing fans just buy enough for themselves to eat and drink, and are not shy about telling LSU fans that.

But of course, there are always these to look forward to...

Feel free to share your experiences at away games.

Edit: I couldn't care less about corndog traps. Those pics are just there for illustration. This what I asked in the OP:

Just focus on that question, please. And FYI, I've still never eaten a corndog.

lots of corndog jokes, but besides that I found Auburn fans unusually nice.

Down right suspiciously nice if you ask me

Never had a problem anywhere. Been invited to opposing tailgates many times, and also ran into some assholes as well, which happens everywhere.

And if the corn dog trap ruffles your feathers, you need to lighten up Francis. I think it's hilarious and done in good fun.

I've far and away been treated well for the most part and I've been to every SEC venue, most multiple times.

Va. Tech was a bit hairy in 2002, one of my 6 trips to Gainesville was not very hospitable.

Otherwise, in my experience at least, I've had very few issues, and have many more times been more disappointed in how I've seen opposing fans treated here than any bad experiences I've had. Mostly the younger college age kids acting stupid though. I find our veteran fans very hospitable to visitors.

What amusement does the corn dog thing give these fans? Do they think it's offensive? If you make a coonass trap atleast use crawfish.

I have experienced a lot of good natured teasing and football related trash talking but the only time we were subjected to real outright classless hostility was in Little Rock, Arkansas. It was a few years ago when Arkansas went to the Sugar Bowl. We parked at the Golf Course near the stadium. Not just isolated instances. This was from many people and even directed toward women and children. It was the most classless display I have ever seen at a football game. And I have seen a lot and have a high tolerance for that kind of stuff.

Little Rock was the absolute worst. Nearly got into two fights over Arky fans getting rough.

I've been to....

Auburn
Florida
Tennessee
Arkansas

Out of those, Tennessee was the best experience, and Auburn was the worst. The other two were neutral as we didn't get invited to anything, but didn't come across any bad fans neither.
We were invited to three different tailgates at Tennessee including one on a guy's yacht.
Auburn fans, the corndog jokes were lame and the profanity was out of control. Also witnessed an LSU fan getting kicked in the back after the game.

Tennessee fans were really nice, but I've heard that experience was not normal. They didn't offer food or drink, but we had more and better options anyway.

Bama fans are not bad, but even the friendly ones seem to be doing it for show and really don't like being around LSU fans (even the ones I know sometimes )

Aggy fans were OK until after the game. They turn to Sandy vaginas pretty quick after a loss.

Eta: Bama is the absolute worst after agame, win or lose. One guy was arrested for threatening to beat our asses after the 05 game right in front of a cop.

The only place that I have seen our fans mistreated on a large scale was Gainesville. I have been three times and frankly don't have a single nice thing to say about that place. I will never go back there for any reason.

Everywhere else has been relatively pleasant with the exception of Ole Miss in 2003. They were less than friendly but no where near as bad as Gainesville.

This! When I went to auburn last year they fed my friends and I so freaking much, and it was delicious. They also had a full bar set up that they encouraged us to use.

Definitely affected my feelings toward the fan base.

Agree about Auburn. I actually love that trip. Don't worry about Vandy... No one goes so don't expect much. Mississippi State folks were pretty kind. Too drunk on my trip to Bama to remember.

I have been invited more than a few times to opposing fans' tailgates....once at tennessee, a group fed me boiled skrimps, etc...you can tell pretty easily who has class and who does not at away games...

the difference is, LSU fans push the banter a lot farther and then offer some food/drink to make up for it...

Hard to hate a team when you beat them 41-7.

Mississippi State and Texas A&M fans have personally been nice to me and offered me free beer. Was not treated well at Arkansas and Florida.

The most bile I've been met with was at Vandy.

I hear more corndog insults at Auburn than anywhere else. Not surprising really, since Auburn is ground central for the beginning of the urban legend that "LSU fans smell like corndogs". As all of us know, corndogs are not typical Louisiana fare.

FYI that is a straight rip-off from what Iowa fans say about Iowa State fans. An Auburn fan changed "Iowa State" to "LSU" and left the rest alone.

Here is ground zero for the corndog insult: The Iowa State Fair "Corndog Kickoff"...

quote:

Each July, Fair-lovers whet their Iowa State Fair appetite by attending the Corndog Kickoff Benefit Auction and Fair Food Grazing Party. It is a fun-filled night complete with live entertainment, all of your Fair food favorites, and a variety of unique auction packages to satisfy any State Fair enthusiast.

The Corndog Kickoff began in 1997 and was first held in Pioneer Hall. The 460 attendees bid on 20 live and 43 silent packages, raising over $67,000 for the Iowa State Fair. Like the Fair itself, the Kickoff fundraiser has evolved over the last 18 years, and has grown to encompass over half of the William C. Knapp Varied Industries Building.

Nearly 1,700 people come together each year to bid on over 30 live auction packages and 200 silent auction packages. To date, the event has raised a total of $4 million toward Fairgrounds renovations.

The event is coordinated each spring by a committee of volunteers and Foundation staff members. Please contact Drew if you want to get involved in planning this pre-Fair tradition!

Save the date for the 2015 Corndog Kickoff slated for July 11, 2015!

agree completely...MS state has a nice, family atmosphere and are always welcoming...I won't hesitate to go to a MS state game by myself if LSU does not have a home game...

Like others, I've never had a great experience in Gainesville in any of my 3 trips there. Most places aren't too bad aside from isolated groups. Tennessee and Auburn were noticeably nicer. UGA seems to have a lot of mutual respect.

The worst ever though was West Virginia 2011. I know people say this all the time, but people literally...literally cussed us out all over campus completely unprovoked. It wasn't isolated stuff. It was like walking through the worlds largest trailer park. I've seen some stuff on my 20+ road games but that was by far the worst
