on the + side...
should he have success at Cincy ( a relative term I know) but at least showcase potential...

a)he can name his price thereafter
(not that he will not already have made millions)
b)he can run for Governor of Ohio
c)he can run for Governor of Louisiana

QB contact rules are much different than they used to be. He is tough and knows how to take a hit if that makes sense. He also is very smart about getting rid of the ball. He will not stand back there and get demolished like some guys we have seen before.

Are you really suggesting that Archie Manning was the best quarterback to come out of college before Burrow?

This idea that the Bengals are some black hole of football is not based on anything factual.

I totally disagree. As long as Mike Brown is calling the shots and interfering they will have a culture of losing. They constantly sabotage themselves and their locker room culture. The Bengals could frick up a wet dream. A few good years because of Carson Palmer doesn’t change that. They will not be committed to winning long term. If they have a couple good years and people are in the seats, they will loaf. There are organizations that are committed or would commit to winning. Cincy isn’t one of them.

Yes. For a franchise. He can't be THE franchise (No QB can be.)

Again, I might have been too harsh, but Cincy needs 1 of almost everything.
I don't disagree that Cincy needs a lot of everything.

But if you feel he's a franchise QB, you take him. That's the most important thing a team needs and often times the hardest thing to find.

If Cincy thinks he's a franchise QB, the only reason they should trade him is if, for example, they also think Tua is one and they like Tua just as much or more, then trade down for assets and still get what you feel is a franchise QB.

"I didn't realize I was dealing with Slumlord, Esquire. Your position is suddenly valid."

More moronic statements. I ate $4,000 in back rent from one tenant who contracted fibrotic lung disease from his work causing a 70% reduction in his lung capacity. All of my tenants pay me exactly on time, because they want to keep me happy. (and are themselves very good people) To the extent that you may claim I am a slumlord because I own mortgages, the lenders are investors.

You can't argue the finances because you know nothing, and then you make up dumb*ss stuff about me.

Joe seems to be sending out the message that he would rather be a winner than max out earnings in 1st 5-7 years in league. Suppose sitting out or forcing a trade costs him 10 mil. Might not be a big deal to him if he makes $15 mil. Not everyone cares about maximizing the millions they make.

On the other hand, if he loses money up front but goes to a much better organization, he could make up on the back end, if he produces like Drew Brees even Philip Rivers.

Josh Rosen and Jared Goff (his first year) are prime examples of how bad coaching and organizations can ruin talented qbs.

Will admit if what one poster above said is true (That Bengals have absolute rights to Joe for 5 years even if he sits out) then he has no leverage. Hard to believe that is the case because then what Bartkowski and Carson Palmer are saying doesn't make much sense.

Will add that Joe's experience at LSU bears out the importance of having good support. His first year was middling, with a not very good offensive line and not great receiving.

Second year, new great coach, great receivers and very good offensive line and he becomes a superstar.

Dude is going to be paid millions to play a game. No matter where he plays, millions.

He will be ok.

Burrow’s going to get a $25 million signing bonus. I don’t see any potential problem.

Pro athletes are pieces of talented meat. They are like racehorses.

Every one of them should understand that when signing their first contract. Some of them will play for 4 or 5 teams.

Get the money--their careers can be very short.

Eli was smart to go to New York and Joe should do whatever it takes to get the buck. If he can personally make more money in another organization he should do it.

Being in Cincinnati, I am sensing that Mike Brown would make an example out of Joe if he tried to force a trade.

This is my main concern. If Mike Brown really doesn't care about winning, which he's not, then it's a possibility. He seems to care more about saving face and his pride than anything else. He stubbornly held onto Marvin Lewis way past his due date, in part because everyone else kept telling him to fire him.

Hell, look at last year's trade deadline. He was downright petty in denying a clearly disgruntled AJ Green the chance to go elsewhere.

Wouldn't surprise me at all.

He is dead-on. AM had every bit of upside that JB has coming out of college that JB has. And a horrible Saints franchise murdered him. Period.

Cincy is a terrible franchise with a terrible owner.
JB is not going to elevate that shitshow.
I can’t think of a worse place.

He could always go to the combine and tank it...5.6 40 yard dash, zero on the bench press, miss all his receivers! Maybe that would get him dropped to a better team!

Jonah williams being healthy will help. I agree with you though. But williams being healthy and getting burrow will be like getting two first round picks this year. If I am the GM I would use the 33rd pick to possibly move up and snag another offensive lineman. That offense would look brand new with Green back, Jonah Williams back, drafting burrow, and then grabbing another offensive lineman.
