In terms of wins and losses? True

In terms of potential to turn things around I’d say they are tied with the Skins and Chargers for terrible ownership and administration.

All pro sports are about the money. Why should he care what team writes the biggest check? (A bigger market like New York might give him more endorsement opportunities.)

I hope you understand that regardless of the team that picks him, his first contract is based purely on the slot he is taken in.

All the signals he's sending are pointing to an Eli Manning part deux shunning of the Bengals.

I'll take that bet

Actually, he doesn't have any leverage at all

If he does what Eli or Elway did he can force the Bengals to not draft him or trade him. It's not a significant amount of leverage because he'd have to sit out a year if they don't heed his warning, but he still does have some.

Joe is going to take much tougher hits in the Pros.

This is false. College QB's get hit way worse and have way less protection. Joe make take a million sacks but most of them are not big hits anymore.

You think so? I've sort of seen them as wanting to move in the right direction and having a bit of life. Maybe not though.

I agree that he isn't excited about the Bengals. He is always even keeled when asked about being the first pick, he never says "Yeah, I'd love to play for them" or "I'm excited about that opportunity." It's always that it's an honor to be in his position or that he wants to play for an organization that wants to win.

I don't know about if he will pull an Eli, but from what I've seen, unless Cincinnati is DEAD SET on Joe Burrow being there and won't entertain any other ideas, it wouldn't surprise me if Joe ended up somewhere else.

Either way, I think he will be fine wherever he goes.

Do not compare Joe to the arse wipe Josh Rosen who was destined to be not good. The Cindy franchise NEEDS Joe as the face of the franchise and city. They will not trade him unless they want to move the team to somewhere else. This is the Bengals chance to build a team around a super star in his home state. From my view, I would like to see South Beach Joe, but I don’t Believe the Bengals are that stupid.

I totally disagree. As long as Mike Brown is calling the shots and interfering they will have a culture of losing.

Yeah, sure, except for all those years where they were a consistent winner and made numerous playoff appearances.

A few good years because of Carson Palmer doesn’t change that.

Carson Palmer was the QB for two of there seven most recent playoff appearances. The rest were with Andy Dalton.

They will not be committed to winning long term. If they have a couple good years and people are in the seats, they will loaf.

If that were true they would still have Marvin Lewis as coach rather than moving on from him after sustained regular season success without playoff success.

Hanny this am made it sound more like it’s the fact that they won’t want to spend/invest money and when they do it’s bad decisions

He mentioned in particular the franchising of AJ Green and the fact that hey have no indoor practice facility. Wtf?? It’s Ohio. That’s dumb to not have one.

Comparing Josh Rosen to Joe Burrow is hilarious.

David Carr was sacked 76 times his rookie year in the NFL. That's almost 5 times per game. Who knows how many additional times he was hit. It adds up.

And if Burrow put $30 million (of the 100 million) into T-Bills at 2.7%, he would generate a ultra-low-risk yearly income of about $800,000... pretty much for as long as he lives.

It's not $100m. Considering the rate at which athletes are taxed and including the agent's cut (about 48% combined), it's more like $52m before he spends a nickel of it, which is still a nice chunk of change.

He's a smart guy so he could still easily save the $30m over 7 years. Just saying he's not actually taking home close to $100m.
