You MUST have Standardized test minimums. Too many schools will and do jack up grades for their students.

I followed up on the test optional point:
quote:

Yes, test scores are optional here at Alabama. Just a couple of notes for those worried about grade inflation: he checks for that in his research. When he is looking at GPA data, he can run the numbers for certain high schools and get a likelihood of retention based on the school.

If Dalton with Rouse's support targets cleaning out LSU's ineffective or toxic deans he will do the University a tremendous service.

He would prefer to make standardized test scores optional

Well, he’s not going to fix LSU.

Really a non negotiable. He has to implement test scores again at lsu

I used to think like you. However, research shows that although ACT scores correlate with IQ, they DON' T correlate with college graduation. High school GPA's do correlate with college graduation rates

Why do people say this? Sure there are instances where a person may have extreme test anxiety or dyslexia and be unable to perform in a way that accurately reflects their ability, but those are edge cases and shouldn’t be used to just throw out test scores completely.

They’re making college easier so that they can fund all of the jobs at the university.

Ya this is really wrong and why LSU is in this mess.

How can you say GPA correlates to IQ and ACT doesn’t? Probably because you can’t spell your own name?

Penalize kids that went to harder higher schools for not having a 4.0 but don’t take into consideration their higher ACT/SAT scores?

Takes the middle average at any top private and public school, and they will out perform the majority of failing public schools throughout the state besides a handful.

How could one be intellectually honest and also "neutral" on DEI?

Is he pro Greek life or anti Greek life? LSU needs to empower Greek life and develop a machine like they have at Alabama.

I would add that a student can’t truly be judged on test scores alone.
Test scores don’t account for understanding people and building relationships, which is what gets most people ahead.

Well, that is true so far as it goes, but if a person is stupid, why should they go to college especially?

He seems to be a better hire for the Chancellor position than the system President. The system President is 100% cronyism. The only positive that comes out of this is there is at least a barrier between the political jungle of lil Jeff from da Ville and our beloved institution.

It’s an eventuality with our state population stagnant if LSU is to continue to grow.
