what is the record for LSU's opponents the week after playing LSU? or even weeks after?
In the case of Miami and ND, the entire program collapses.
Half of the time other teams just have to find a new starting QB.

REKDIVER - why would we, "certainly not pass for 6 touchdowns against you"? Tiger fans haven't even seen what our future quarterbacks are capable of, so don't pretend you know. In addition, please tell me which defensive player of yours can cover Byrd/Toliver/Lafell if Auburn/Virginia Tech/Florida (to name a few) couldn't? Would you say those schools have good athletes/defenses? Wasn't Virginia Tech supposedly the best defense in all of college football (per the media) at the time we played them - fast and physical? Whose going to run down Holliday? I believe AppSt. is a great team but I just don't think you're going to have much luck stopping our offense. And unfortunately, defensively things swing in our favor as well.

p.s. we run a very different type of spread offense than we did in 2005.
Not to mention the fact that this team is much faster than the '05 team that LSU faced.
I know that LSU is a very strong, fast and experienced team in a lot of crucial areas. They are also the best team "on paper." But, as many have of us realize it really is going to come down to who wants it Moore. Yes LSU is strong and fast but I feel that ASU will give them a lot of trouble with this type of spread offense. The defense can't be just strong and fast, it also has to be smart to defend this form of the spread. I'm not saying LSU can't defend it, I'm simply saying that if LSU defenders fail to make the correct reads or adjustments then App CAN put up more points than LSU would like them to.

One more note. I think that the new rule changes are going to play a factor in the game as well. I hope not but they just might. If the refs decide to call the game close to the vest on the new rules then LSU will be at a disadvantage simply because of the hits they will try to deliver on defense. I can already here LSU fans screaming about more than a few calls from the new rules in this game.

I don't think ANY App. St. fans are looking forward to playing you....I DO think that we are looking forward to OUR TEAM playing YOUR team....
I know our athletic budget is looking forward to the game....

I know 2 guys on the LSU #1 and #2 depth chart that wouldn't even sniff the quarterback spot at App....they might make the scout team....maybe

Can I just throw something out here?
This is not just for LSU fans but also for ASU fans as well. No one knows what your team REALLY looks like. Yes, you can go to practices and schrimmage games from last semester and see, but they aren't in a REAL game. I'm tired of people acting like they know exactly how the team will function when you haven't even seen them in a REAL game.

Any team can beat another on any given saturday. A team like appy state has a better chance than most. They've proven they are the best of the rest and even the national champions have an off day from time to time- Arkansas/Kentucky. Appy's definately in the game and could definitely beat ARK/KENTUCKY last year. Too bad if we are in the right mindset, prepared, and limit mistakes it'll be difficult for anyone to beat us this year.

Appfan, I didn't say that I knew exactly how either team would look in this game or any other for that matter. I was simply stating how LSU is historically not really great at defending our type of spread offense and that if either team doesn't make the right decisions or adjustments then it could be a long day for both of them.

That was never geared directly towards you. If you read what I wrote it says...LSU fans and App fans (not App fan)...
It was never geared directly towards your post...
I agree with the fact that any team can win on any given Saturday! I'm hoping that happens in a month!

Most likely a backwards and shy sort of fellow that you might find in the hill country. Not the sort to talk smack to a stranger in a gas station.
Anyway - The rest of us are looking forward to this game, and all the others.
I think App St will play tough. LSU will be ready. Meatchicken ignored them. Les will not, and can thank Meatchicken for the warning.

LSU is going to see the spread offense during the first two games. Awbarn is starting the almost exact same one Troy is running, I'm sure Franklin will change a few things but same system.

Gosh, it certainly is encouraging to see all this enthusiasm from Appy State fans, but what IS a "FCS Championship" and what does that have to do with playing LSU in Tiger stadium? (I wnat to be able to explain this to to Darry Beckwith, Tyson Jackson,Ricky jean Francois etc.)

The main difference between a good I-AA team and a good I-A team is size and depth on the bench. Skill-wise it really isn't all that different.
But midway through the 3rd both teams will be rotating their linemen regularly. Appy will have to field either a) tired first stringers who can compete when they're fresh, or; b) fresh second stringers who aren't as good as LSU's bench.
That said, Michigan fans were probably saying the same thing last year. Probably Miles will tell the troops to put them away quickly so this won't be an issue.
Appy's main chance (as it was against Michigan) is to get ahead big early. If they can do this it can be a nail-biter. If not LSU will wear them down.
