my only explanation is that Faulk is deciding who gets to play by either seniority or who works the hardest in practice/weightroom.

Its a pretty shitty way to decide the order of things but what other explanation can there be for Curry to be getting snaps before Emery or even TDP?

They were stacking the box with 6-7 players

Don’t you think that O watches practice everyday and decides who is the best at that time? I guess he should just let the rant determine his starters.

Curry averaged 1.2 yards a carry.

Gotta make those decision in game.

Not sure, but the run game seemed to be lacking any push from the O line and was not very imaginative, especially the final 4 plays on the goal line

If that’s how Onis going to play thus, Emery should opt out, red shirt and transfer. He could play next year at another school. Curry has looked nothing like last year.

do yall remember this time last year people were questioning why the freshmen weren't playing over CEH? I tend to trust the coaches when it comes to who is our best back. There is more to rb than rushing yards. I was unhappy with our running game as a whole...again we were disappointed with our rushing attack at this point last year also.
key difference: Emery is outperforming Curry. If Curry starts playing better, then I'd want him to play. Emery is our most explosive back by far, and he got the ball 4 times in a game that we struggled to get a running game going. Coincidence? I think not

Sure but CEH was always out performing the Freshmen.

Curry is not, and Emery just had a HUGE game. Got 2 carries.

Remember the year before when we gave Brossette 240 carries and CEH 146?

USC rushed for 300 yds against Vandy. The coaches had Curry as 1, TDP as 2 and emery as 3 coming into the season. They must have done it for a reason.

not many backs can run behind a bad line...quit judging "the best back" based on the Vandy game.

Curry has 1.2 YPC last game. TDP and Emery averaged more. I know We completely abandoned the run, but tell me why not give the ball to the only guy in the team averaging over 4 yards a carry?

"Chris Curry is the starter and he was back this week, so we wanted to play him." I nearly threw up hearing him say that. Feels like we're forcing guys to play because they "earned" it rather than playing guy who play well.

Plenty of people subscribe to the "you don't lose your spot to injury" philosophy of things. It's not exactly uncommon.

And lets not act like Emery was clearly better against MSU. He wasn't. He wasn't clearly better against Mizzou either. The only distinction between Emery and Curry at this point is the Vandy game, which Curry didn't play in.

Who is going to show how much better they are when they only get two carries?

Here's the thing. Emery is the best at getting skinny and hitting whatever hole there was quicker than the other 2 backs. He may seem smaller due to his shiftiness than TDP, but he has broken more tackles. I don't care HOW he practices.... Emery is a gamer who needs to be #1 until he shows he's not. Curry shouldn't see the field unless there is an injury. He's the back with the least amount of vision and elusiveness. Even against Oklahoma, he was mediocre at running.

So if we're having a problem run blocking, you want your most elusive tackle breaking running back out there. Curry and TDP go down much easier than Emery.

Curry only had 5. It's not like either got a huge amount of opportunity. The biggest issue with Saturday was the 16 carries total, not necessarily who got what percentage.

Agreed. Folks who compare this to the CEH situation from last season just don't get it... Emery should touch the ball 15 times a game PERIOD!

My disappointment thus far is we don’t pass to set up the run. If you constantly run an empty backfield then a RB shows up what the hell does the defense do? Key in on the RB.

Keep one of the hosses in the back field and after getting gashed a couple of times by Arik or Terrace a handoff will keep them guessing.

Sounds as if "merit" is out the window. We are an equal opportunity team.

exactly, his pass blocking is the best on the team, he is the most explosive and hardest running back we have. His only knock would be his route running/hands but the other guys arn't any better. So why not have him be our feature back?

I said this week one. He is clearly the back we need and that fits us this year!! He needs to be the starter and then the others can follow once he’s worn the D down or we lull the D to sleep. Because the other guys just aren’t effective when the D is sitting there waiting. They can’t make people miss and that’s what we need. I think the freshman should get some playing time also. Our RB coach knows talent but it looks like rotation isn’t working. We need to be starting those two guys and filling in with the bigger bruisers. It’s just the way it is.
