So why didn’t Baker play an aggressive defense all game?

Has that been answered?

Know your personnel. Hes still not confident the players were going to be able to get it done vs a dual threat QB so he played conservative imo

Only thing I got is when we started sending pressures the ineligible QB was able to get it out quick enough when they started running quick slants and underneath routes.
Gameplan was very obvious that we didn’t want allow the big play and keep everything in front of us.

Because it works. You haven't paid attention the past three years?

his zones worked on 3rd and really long
they sucked on 3rd and anything less. zones too deep.
the scouting report on TC was he does not handle A gap pressure well.
we did not do enough of it. we shoulda switched to man press/blitz sooner and more often. sure there would be a risk of a 50 yard play for a TD....that was the risk. he was too scared.
zone was a guaranteed loss. if we lost trying man blitz so what? we were losing anyway. pure garbage coaching.
dumbass shoulda kept 1 safety over the top put the rest in man and a MLB in a hook zone/spy if he was so worried about TC running and breaking contain.

right. great and 3rd and longs and great if you are up 21 in second half and want to tackle and make them use up clock to drive and score.
in our game it was imbecilic for most the game. he sliced and diced us all day underneath. nickel and dimed us to death. congrats kiffina nd blake or whatver dumbfrick went with that and stuck with it

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
This is EVERY GAME Baker goes against a decent QB. Same shite, different season. I am used to it. Glad someone else sees it.

What a great idea. Seemed to work.

I want to know where this vaunted secondary disappeared to ?

It’s a pick your poison type decision with Chambliss.
You don’t want him to beat you with his feet. So we held him to 2 yards rushing.
You don’t want Lacey to run wild. We held him and the rest of OM backs to 62 total yards.
You don’t want Duece Alexander to beat you deep. He didn’t.
So TC threw to 10 guys you’ve never heard of for 300+ yards.
You can only limit him so much. He’s the best in college ball.

My thing is force the deep throw. A great completion is 30 to 35% on those. Maybe they hit a few. Or maybe the rush gets there quick enough to disrupt it.
Either way id rather lose being aggressive, than laying back playing soft all game

Conservative? That defense was as conservative as Kamala

I wish you would’ve gone to Tulane. Dude’s a fraud.

Because he knows how fast Chambliss can see the field and make the quick throw to the blitzes side usually where someone will be open. He made good adjustments the 2nd half.

Lame said they wanted to keep everything in front of them. I’m not sure why tho, considering we got absolutely picked apart because of it. I’d rather take the chance of getting burnt deep than watch a guy go 9 for 9 for 100 yards in 1 half. It wasn’t just Blake’s fault tho, Lame quickly pointed out that was the game plan

Playing aggressively, I mean heavy blitzing, generally doesn’t work against running QB’s. It’s an invitation to run. Baker challenged Chambliss to beat him with his arm, and he did just that.

Yes. He makes his bacon by padding stats v shite offenses. As soon as a capable qb comes to play that’s not just a statue in the pocket, he gets shite in his drawers

right. force low % throws if possible. with a blitz he may not have time to get them off as far as deep throws. exactly why you jam those wrs at the LOS so they cannot get off for a short hot route and still get a big play with YAC. usually blitzes are beatn with huge YAC on quick throws. I woulda shut that down and forced them to screen us if they wanted to beat my blitzes.
who knows with receivers jammed and nobody open and no time we may have gotten more sacks and changed the game. especially with 1 man in a hook zone playing spy in case he got loose.

we had some zone blitzes that are less risky than man blitzes but we did not get there in time and he completed the ball against the zone and got a first down. we were close to sacking him also.
regardless we had to live or die by the man blitz. kiffina nd blake failed. bottom line.

It's pretty much an identical game plan Georgia ran against Chambliss in The Sugar Bowl last year. Yes, could have applied more pressure in the 1st half but I feel some of it was pressure just wasn't getting home. Seems the universally agreed upon defense going against Chambliss is to not let him escape the pocket and have free runs with secondary playing man. What makes it look really bad at times is his accuracy and how he just doesn't make many mistakes from the pocket. Tough dude to gamplan for sure.
