Seriously though, If we’d have had ANYONE else coaching with all that frickin talent he was supremely blessed with, we’d have at least 3 more NC’s.
Not if they didn't have a qb. Perriloux screwed everything up. He was being developed perfectly. Had he done what he was supposed to, LSU definitely would have been in line for more natties. Les was recruiting at a high clip. It's no guarantee a different coach could have done the same.

I was done with him after the 2009 Ole Miss game and then the 2010 Tenn game was what I thought was the final nail for me. I briefly forgot about it in 2011 but then 1/12 happened.

Everyone should have seen him for the coach that he was when he was at Okie State and they blew a 35-7 halftime lead to Texas and lost. And for sure the Tenn game in 2005 right after Rita.

Had more talent than any coach in LSU history throughout his career and only wins 1 title. It’s not that complicated to figure out. Couldn’t care less what he did in his private life.

I agree, those teams were so much fun. We won a natty. 2 SEC titles. The first half of his time here was legendary. He put great teams together. Just fell off when the game evolved. He was still a 8-10 win guy in his bad years. He kept us in the ranking and the media. Saban started the train, Les kept it going.

He was extremely fortunate getting the job after Saban turned LSU into a recruiting machine. He actually carried out that part of his job well.

He was lousy with the offense, playing an "old style" and squandered amazing talent. If half his antics were true prior to the NC game with Alabama, he should have been run out of town immediately.

When the heat came for his lack of production on the offense he promised to change and didn't. He lied.

I was very happy he left.

His first 2 games were basically a preview of his whole tenure

Game 1 ASU - offense falters for the first 75% of the game, frantic comeback with a crazy 4th down conversion going to the endzone from midfield instead of just trying for the first. Even ran a fake punt out of his own endzone and special teams came through with some blocks. Classic Mad Hatter victory

Game 2 Tenn - Get out to a big lead, offense goes into a shell the whole 2nd half instead of staying aggressive and lets the opponent hang around instead of putting them away. Famously tried to call a timeout immediately after an interception when the clock was already stopped, foreshadowing his clock mismanagement that would plague his future tenure. Offense sputters in OT and has to kick a FG and Tenn scores a walkoff TD. Classic frustrating loss

Am I remembering correctly? That his last season or so the lack of offensive development had become such a huge issue that it was addressed publicly preseason, press conf or something, and he said he would be making changes, but then come first game, nope not a thing.

He actually wasn’t bad at all. The fans just got tired of him and his style of football.

Scatter brain on the sideline during games. Eating grass and making poor decisions and poor clock management. Spikes ball with one second left; stuff like that.

Rockwell if that’s true you are just ignorant.BK has the most wins of any college coach still active today.Have you watched BKs offensive teams at LSU compared to LMs compared to the talent Les had here.I garantee you if BK took over after NS he would legitamatly have won or played in at least 3 championship games. He would not have had to backdoor one.Fans like you are stupid who just hare because they didn’t like the hire. How’s Lincoln Riley doing AH.

lol… you THINK you would. Kelly is 10 times the coach Les was. Heck, post-championship O was a better coach than Les.
