but I would argue he has the worst Oline and RB group of anyone on the following list I’m about to show.

If Kiner and Goodwin stay healthy, I think the view on the RBs will change when we look back at the end of the season. Both seem to have skills and abilities that TDP just doesn’t.

As for the O Line, yeah. It’s the worst. Probably by far.

Max has 258 attempts in 5 starts
Mett had 296 the entire 2013 season

Max has 19 TDS in that time frame
Mett had 22

so as long as Max has 3 more TDs in his next 43 attempts. Then true freshman/sophmore Max Johnson in his first 5 starts is as effective as 5th year Zach Mettenberger starting his 2nd season playing behind La'el Collins with Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham and Jeremy Hill

By the way what about 2012 Metts first year since you're using Max's first 5 starts.

So he had a TD pass every 29.33 passes. (12 TDS, 352 attempts, 7.4 YPA)

Max this year has a TD pass every 9.8 passes. (11 TDS, 108 attempts, 8 YPA)

You think this pace keeps up against 8 SEC defenses?

Getting to 35 TDs and 3500 yards is probably a stretch.

Not really that much of a stretch

When (IF) we see Deculus, Shanahan and Dellinger in the stating lineup, there will be an immediate and noticeable elevation of play.

Still waiting for it and how "Surprised" many on here will be when there is all of a sudden a Day & Night difference in OL performance...........

How is that possible? Last week fans were saying he didn't have the arm strength needed to play at this level

Taking stats from three non conference games and extrapolating them for a season is speculative especially when two of the three are cupcakes.

Not only that, UCLA has one of the worst pass defenses in the country through 3 games, McNeese has a bad defense for FCS standards, and Central Michigan's pass defense would be in the 100s if they didn't play a FCS team that threw 8 total passes.

This is a problem LSU fans will realize when we start to have more consistent passing. At Ohio St JT Barrett, despite his crazy numbers there (breaking all QB records), people were so damn ready for him to go.

If you watch the games, it's easy, easy, EASY, to see the truth. Max Johnson is living on how crazy good his WRs are. That's it. How will that continue when we're playing Bama, UF, TAMU, etc?

Max Johnson will have to be good himself going forward because SEC secondaries with talent are not as easy to out athlete.

The frick?

Why can't he be compared to 2013 Mettenberger or 2017 Etling?

What about to every other single QB in the country?

He's currently leading the SEC in TDs and 5th in the country.

He's a victim of his success because you slap dicks don't know football.

stop looking at stats he's feasting off how good his WRs have been. Boutte was a YAC monster last year and vs UCLA. His WRs were acrobats all game vs Central Michigan, that literally explains all his success if you watch the games.

Tua did the same thing at Bama for the most part with YAC monsters, but was also good at the deep ball. He utilized his great YAC monsters, and his arm strength and accuracy downfield made it look like a video game every game.

I’m not mad at all at Max. I think he’s making progress and I liked it but I’m also evaluating the level of competition and not just saying he’s playing teams like Florida. So don’t try to twist of your dumb arse.

No I do not have any issues with anyone but YOUR OP. You screwed up by comparing him to all these past quarterbacks that ran in a completely different system. So admit you and change your original post or just go away

Disingenuous, their D was ranked 85th in the country.

Max is good and going to get better. I think he'll be just fine but let's not pretend he's faced a top defense.

Florida was ranked #6 in the polls when we played them, however, their defense was 83rd nationally. Not a top defense and not in the top half nationally. Ole Miss was ranked #126th in total defense. Two spots from dead last.

Yep, with the right offense, he's good. Even with relatively little experience.

Max was night and day different this past weekend, from the previous two. They made the offense more friendly for him. He also tightened up a bit on his delivery.

Max did not play on the same team as Joe Burrow for two years either.

I dont really like these all-time comparisons for modern CFB QB's. The passing offenses are on a different level now. Rohan, for example, would have thrown for a million yards in Mike Leach's offense. Hell 8 of 10 all-time leading passers are from the last 20 years and 5 from the last decade.

Max is on a good track, though. He's got to tighten some things up, but hes only a sophomore, so we need to be patient.
