I say yes! March it right down the field and score a TD and let this group of bama players and fans know this aint that old predictable offense they have come to expect Then when bama gets the ball on offense send the major blitz packages on the first 2 downs and let tua and that Offense know that the LSU defense aint here to play either

Nah I think most prefer the opportunity to set the tone in the second half. It also gives you an opportunity to double up and wear a defense down with two consecutive drives. As much as you want to score first controlling the second half is even more important.

You ALWAYS want the ball to start the third quarter with zero exceptions.

You always want the ball to start the 2nd half but for a game like this you have to consider taking the ball first.

If you defer and put Alabama’s offense out there first chances are high they cut right through Clueless Dave’s defense, put up 7, and set the tone for the whole game. If you take the ball first your offense has a chance to do that. I like starting the game with your strongest unit on the field.

I would say yes. Take every opportunity to put the offense on the field. However, Coach O always defers. Who do you trust more me or coach O?

you want the chance for an extra possession in the second half in case you need it.

I’ve always believed in putting your strongest unit on the field first also. Set the tone. Take it if O is strong and defer if D is strong. If you are a complete team with no discernible differences in your O and D then defer.

Our defense is not the type that we could nearly guarantee a stop on the first Bama possession. As such, I say take the opening kickoff. Also, if there are not Bama turnovers, we would at least have a chance for one more possession at the end of the game.

Score to end the half, score to start the 2nd half. Can be a 14 point swing, that is massive and is worth way more than starting the game up 3 to 7 points.

For sure....we want the ball the second half...we have seen their defense and able to make needed adjustments.
alabama will be tough on defense and our D has to step up and match that intensity. Start on Defense without a doubt!! O is smart enough to know that!!

If your reasoning is a lack of confidence in the defense, then you could make the same argument for deferring. If the game is within a score to start the second half, you would want to get the ball to start the third quarter to either catch up or put some distance so as not to rely on you D to win the game.

If, on the other hand, you take the position the post prior to yours does, that you want your strongest unit on the field to start the game, you could put the offense on first particularly if you have confidence the D can make a stop or two in the half. I am not in that camp either but I understand the reasoning.

I still think you defer in any game you think ill be competitive.

No. Have to pull a Belichick. Hope for a three and out on Bama's first drive, take the crowd out of it.

Then working the timing so that you have a long drive with a TD to end the second quarter. If you score on that first possession in the third quarter, you're really in a good position to win the game.

If we are that confident about our offense why not take the ball? A touchdown will put that crowd on mute. Then they play catch up from there. Sets the tone.
