They aren’t going to be played, the leagues are just buying time for another few weeks before they cancel it entirely.

Makes perfect sense to me

-more flexibility in scheduling/rescheduling if necessary

-more control over testing/monitoring for C19 (tighter "bubble")

-relieves us of 2-3 7-figure OOC payouts where we have little to 0 gate revenue (Moscona was spot on with this one)

Just face it, this season is gonna be different. If conference only play allows us to salvage a season I'm all for it.

I really want to see Chase and our other stud upperclassman suit up in the purple and gold again. Kiss them goodbye if this thing gets pushed to Spring or cancelled.

Because those three weeks in September are going to make a difference?

This makes no sense. Most if not all teams play OOC teams that are geographically closer (or even in the same area or state) than many conference opponents. Besides, the largest infection potential comes from the players’ own campus and personal lives along with team activities. None of that is impacted by cancelling games

What exactly are the payouts slated to be this season? Are we paying Texas a million dollars? Nicholls? Are we paying Rice a million dollars for the game in Houston?

This may be what we end up with, but axing the non-conference games is not necessary to allow the teams to play. It’s just “DoING sOmEtHinG”

Opening up 2 extra bye weeks per team for rescheduling/contingency seems like a great idea to me

I said nothing about travel... its ab standardizing testing and monitoring of players across the conference. You want half our team to sit vs. Florida because Nichols testing and monitoring wasnt on par with the SEC?

I dont really care as I think this is just a side benefit and not the sole purpose of cancelling OOC. But we are talking ab 2-4 cancellations for each of the 14 member institutions the savings adds up.

This is just ridiculous. You're willing to risk the whole season over muh Nichols and muh Rice. Look at the bigger picture here. SEC play=TV revenue. We arent gonna throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Everyone in the SEC is going to try to get Vandy and Mizzou on their schedule.

Yep. Not gonna see a 12 game schedule, but we could maybe still be able to play 9-10 games in that timeframe.

If a team is sick, you try to reschedule it later, instead of cancelling it outright.

I still don't think we end up with anything this fall, but I think they're trying their damnedest to piece it together.

So they are playing Soccer all across Europe and now in the US, in a couple of weeks we will have Basketball, and shortly after that baseball yet some people still think we won’t have football? The only question in my opinion is what will the stands look like?

I thought about the 12 game SEC option today then it hit me—Skanky & the Bammer good ol’ boys in Birmingham would stick LSU with UGA again & give Bammer another Vandy game.

No thanks.

There is no reason for the SEC to play a different schedule than those of other Conferences. I assume post season play to be in order so why make things more difficult for member schools?

I think 8 Conf games played every other week is a good idea
Puts everything on under SEC control

10 game schedule starting Sept 12 and ending Nov 21. 10 games in 11 weekends. Add in each teams' rotating opponents for 2021 and 2022.

Most SEC schools are NOT coming back for in-person classes after Thanksgiving.
