This comment reminds me of the people who said Bregs couldn't play shortstop, and also that said Lemahieu couldn't.

Infield in in the first of a scoreless game is just stupid

You may be right, I can't remember on the 2nd error. The first one should have never happened. He shouldn't have been on the grass.

He will end the season being one of the best in the country.

Unless you are going against a Aaron Nola, Jonathan Gray type.

I understand doing it down 5. Each successive run could not be afforded at that point.

When are you going to learn that CPM has reasons you don’t dream of? He is practicing his team through the first half of the season.

I'm a baseball purist and most people don't realize how coaching decisions such as this one can affect the outcome of a game.

If not for the GS, PM was close to conceding and saving his bullpen for the rest of the weekend as he normally does when we fall behind in the first game of a series.

It's actually fun to ask myself WTF? on some of Pulmonary's decisions.

Nonetheless, I still love LSU Baseball and will always be grateful for Skip and what he built here.

You quoted a statement where I supported him

I've always said CPM greatest attribute as a coach are the decisions he makes between games. He often makes changes from one game to another that in hindsight prove to be brilliant.

His greatest weakness is his in game management. He's a thinker and I often believe he out thinks himself at times during a game. Some of the things he does defies baseball logic.

I understand where you are coming from, but I think this has more to do with real game practice/execution throwing guys out at the plate rather than game strategy. This early in the season, newbies in front of a huge crowd, Jordan behind the plate kind of unexpectedly. When you think of it from that direction, it really doesn't seem so odd.

If this is later in the season in a game that matters, Gilbert isn’t in this game as long as he did

I disagree. I though it was scored correctly live and seeing the replay at The Box. I saw it again on TV when I got home. It was correctly scored an error IMO.

I was at game too. In almost every game there are hits that are clearly hits, errors that are clearly errors and a few plays that could go either way according to scorer’s discretion.

I thought it would be a close call but probably scored a hit. I suspect had an LSU player hit the ball, it would have been scored a hit.

To be fair, it was one of those close callls scorers have to make and could legitimately been called either way. I thought it was a hit but have no problem with it being scored an error.

Of course. That is why it took so long for the E to appear on the board. The official scorer really thought about it. Again, in my opinion he got it right.

You can't see from the photo but the first baseman catching the throws from Josh Smith was Bryce Jordan.

He used the practice after the game to work on his footwork & scoops at first.

I bet this is not the 1st time, nor will it be the last that Maineri makes strange moves during a baseball game.
Guess we should just call him Lucky Louie with a horse shoe up his colon.
But Kudos to Josh for working on getting better.

Not hardly. Said last year if they move him to SS that would be a disaster. He doesn't have the hands or range to play SS. Thought he was satisfactory, at best, at third.

I’ll agree with 1 error. No way was that first one an error.
