Exactly. On the interview they were more concerned with this than pitching

Ackenhausen didnt start one game all year before a week ago and has now started two.

So you gave a guy who usually has to warm up quickly a longer warmup while also not on short rest and you think that proves your point?

LOL. Anyone who doesn't think Skip wouldn't start Skenes when he was coaching never watched LSU baseball. Has nothing to do with what he said today. He would start Skenes and probably told JJ he would start Skenes.

And bring Skenes in for 3 innings.

Said it on 104.5 with Ott

Doug Thompson said a similar thing on Jordy Culotta's show. I bet you Skenes is going to come out of the bullpen for the final 9 outs. We just need to keep the game close. Now whether Hurd starts or comes out of the bullpen as well thats another question but I would expect Coleman, Hurd, Herring, and Skenes to all pitch today with the hope to get 3 innings out of Skenes. So the first 6 innings is some combination of Hurd, Herring and Coleman in whatever order.

Yes. The point is a normal warm up routine is an ideal scenario but you go with the guys in a rotation that you feel comfortable with if you believe the guys can overcome a different routine.

It's been proven by this staff and this coach twice in the last week.

If they think Skenes on the back half gives them the best chance they can navigate the changes to his warm up routine fairly easily. It that hard to warm up more than one guy at once.

It’s not like they’d bring skenes in with men on base where the mentality is different. He’ll be fine starting inning 1 through 9.

Who was the kid who started the Friday njght super regional in skips last series? Iirc he went at least 10 innings.

I trust Jay's decision. If it were up to me I would start Skenes because no other pitcher on staff will even begin to intimidate Florida. I would want to get into their heads from the jump.

These guys can't possibly put all of last night behind them (neither can we contrary to what being said) and the best boost for our collective outcome is to start Skenes in my opinion.

I don't make big bucks coaching CBB though.

No you pitch Hurd and try to get a lead and hold it for 5 or 6 innings, then you bring in Skenes as a closer.

Skip said the politically correct thing. All you youngsters need to go back at look at who Skip pitched in postseason play. He would 100% start Skenes.

Depends on how many innings Skenes can give you realistically.

Hurd, Skenes, whoever, STTDB.

I'm MUCH more concerned about hitting than pitching.

I really think you let Skenes go through his normal warm up routine, start and pitch 3-5(whatever count they have him on)then go Hurd and Cooper.

For some reason, if Hurd gets in trouble, I’d hate to see PS trying to get loose quickly like a reliever when he hasn’t done it in some time. Of course I’m just some random guy sitting at home watching the game, so my opinion doesn’t really matter lol.

Have you ever heard Ben say Skip abused his arm? No you haven’t because hasn’t said it. He has said the Orioles rushing him to increase ticket sales contributed to his shoulder problems

The way Thatcher has pitched I like the idea of starting him, with Florida knowing the cyborg is waiting in the dugout. Might get Florida pressing at the plate.

No one knows that but if he doesn’t have it giving up 6 is possible

God knows I love Skip for making LSU the preeminent college baseball program. But what he did to Lane Mestepay is hard to defend.
