Skip did Everything to try to keep Saban. I thought he did a great job for the most part.

Didn’t skip hire Saban?

That was Mark Emmert. Skip Bertman was still the baseball coach when Saban was hired.

Skip was selfish in his hires. Plus TAF contributions and shutting down parking over the curb for tailgates was under his direction.

None of Skip's major hires (with the exception of Smoke) met the standards

Smoke met the standards?

Paul definitely met the standards at the time. But his time has past.

Smoke ran Skip’s system. I know because I played for both.

Well, Cusimano and the good ole boys torpedoes Emmert and Saban' choice.

Skip was a compromise candidate.

Saban was leaving to try his hand in pro ball. No one could have kept him here at that time.

Correct. We were going to have to pay a lot of money every year just to keep him. Hindsight is 20/20 but no one would have kept playing that game

He let pat Henry and Saban walk out the door

Pat Henry was the absolute worse decision because I think Saban was gone regardless. Henry wanted facilities and he put baseball over everything else out of selfishness. The New Box is cheap like his sorry arse.

Paul won a championship in 09. So this is incorrect.

PM was a great hire at the time, but the game passed him by.

No. But I’m not saying no to him returning as baseball head coach

I realize the game has passed him by but I would not say no.

Skip did NOTHING to keep Nick. That’s a fact. If you know, then you know. Skip refused to match when Nick said he would stay and then lit a cigar when Nick hung up. Skip was the big dick and thought Nick was a Primadonna. He thought anyone could recruit football and finish first every so often. Les was an economic coaching choice. He was half the price of Nick, could recruit and just decent enough to not screw it up. He also wasn’t a promadonna in Dec 2004. Fast forward to Dec 2011.........

Smoke wasn't Skip.

You can try an emulate systems all you want. Who the coach is matters.

No he wasn't. He was the first guy to say yes after others turned it down. He is the same coach he has always been, but is now exposed with no Dunn or Cannizaro coming to save him.

If Pat Henry is still at LSU, LSU has a dozen more track titles. No way you let that walk out of the door. If I’m AD, I keep him and build what he wants facility wise. Why let all those national titles walk out of the door

Skip was not the Ad when Skip was hired. Emmert hired Saban. The Ad was not involved in the hire.
