It’s unfortunate he’s going to have to play 2-3 more years with the pirates because of the dated MLB contract rules.

Try 5. He's not eligible for free agency until after the 2030 season. Also, in what way are the rules dated?

I was surprised to see Mangum’s name come up in the game preview. He’s 29 and he’s had his first career ABs this year.

The NBA and NFL have just as much service time requirements before reaching Free Agency.

MLB and NBA can’t stash players in the minors for 2-3 years and then manipulate their service time their first year up.

Good debate for sure

Yeah Ohtani for sure but I'd absolutely take him over Mookie Betts.

Bobby Witt is a fair argument because he's a legit 5 tool and he's young.

Judge is a fair argument, just depends on what you value more

Mississippi States Mangum with a hit in the first inning off of Skenes. Kid is hitting .667 so far to start his first year in the bigs.

Ok, great

In Skenes's case, it's irrelevant. He was down for less than a year and by winning ROY, he gets full year service credit.

i mean… I cheer for him to be individually great

i don’t give a frick if the pirates win.

It would be nice for him to get a w but if he had a 1.5 era he’ll get the cy young award.

I'd like him to get the Ws too when he pitches.

Glad to see Mangum make it to the bigs. I always liked that kid when he was at State
