Tim Lincecum never had Tommy John surgery during his career. There are some exceptions out there.

He also didn't throw 100 mph+. Plus his career crashed out over the yips. Not a good example for guys who want a long HOF career.

Having said that, that's usually an offseason thing. That it is happening now i think indicates injury. I think he has a date with Mr. John pretty soon. But we all knew this would happen. Same as that kid in Milwaukee. You can't pitch like that and last very long.

He's going to get traded to the Yankees or Dodgers, book it.

It’s called preserving.

His mechanics have looked off for the better part of the last month and a half now. I would imagine it’s fatigue + trying to preserve for a stretch run.

A lot of guys have talked about how hard it is to be ramped up for the WBC and then go straight into the season. While they try to ramp their arms up in those games, it’s still a ton more emotion than a typical spring training game

That all makes sense, but what stretch run? The Pirates are in last place.

I hope he isn't but I think he's hurt. Nobody throwing that hard for that long goes without a surgery sooner or later.

Skenes didn't start pitching a lot until his sophomore year of college when he was 20 years old. He didn't start throwing really hard until he got to LSU either. He's only 24 years old. He may be hurt, but it's not from him throwing so hard for so long.

At the PG showcase his senior year of high school, the threw 91. AT Air Force he was throwing around 95. It wasn't until he got to LSU that he started touching high 90s and triple digits. He also only threw 26 innings his freshman year at Air Force and then 85 his sophomore year. Of all the power pitchers you see across baseball, Skenes' arm has less mileage on it than anyone's

That said, there are plenty of hard throwers who never had arm issues. Pedro never did. Clemens never did. Nolan Ryan never did until his last pitch when he was like 44 years old. Randy Johnson never did until his last season in baseball when he was 45. Aroldis Chapman never had any major injuries to his arm. Verlander didn't have any issues until he was almost 40 years old.

Skenes has been affected by competing in the World Baseball Championship. All he needs is rest. Maybe they are reducing his pitch count to get him rested up for a wild card run.

He might end up getting hurt, but for right now it’s awesome watching that dudes alien freak arm. I can’t even comprehend how someone can catch up to 104. Hardest I’ve ever personally gone against is 96 and it was damn near impossible. Guess that’s what separated me from the actual pros

Sheesh, I hadn’t looked at the standings since ASB. I didn’t realize they had fallen behind the reds

Paul Skenes threw 8.1 innings and 131 pitches total in the WBC over 2 outings. He would have thrown that much in spring training.

Gave up 1 run, 2 hits. Solo home run and a bunt single throwing error. Lost 2-0. Why pitch him anymore when you can see no one is hitting Perez enough to put some runs on the board. Frustrating to watch.

I don't get all the negativity about Dunne. She seems like a nice kid with a good head on her shoulders, taking advantage of the public profile gymnastics provided her, and making bank while she can. She doesn't seem entitled and I've not seen anything in the press about her acting out or being obnoxious.
