It's nice reading a rant poster who actually knows football.

So many on here think passing/running 50/50 equals balance.

There's A LOT more to it.

Hell, and offense that is 60/40 run dominant can be more were open than one that is the reverse.

It is always readily apparent to me that most on this board really don't have the ability to see the detail beyond the obvious.

That's not a knock. It's not something in everyone's repertoire.

But. Yeah. Refreshing post.

1. Put Harris on the damn bench. He clearly has trouble reading a defense in his drop.

on ISO run play to the right side ..which seems to be the offense favorite play

funny thing is not only do we not see much of what i laid out above or if we do it we get away from it or it doesn't matter by that game....we run so much I-form yet we do not see much counter leads, counter traps or counter treys....why not since he like it so much? we see tons of HB dives, toss dives, and HB leads though. we do not use much misdirection or motion at all.

It's almost like he thinks it's unmanly to fool the defense

Get the play in with more than 10 seconds left on the play clock.

1. Kick the damn ball through the end zone.

2. Find a fricking punter, if we can't just let Harris throw as far as he can.

3. Put Harris in shotgun with three WR's with singleback set.

4. Run more read option to maximize Harris' athletic abilities.

5. Neex to find a LB that can cover a TE, if not put a safety in that spot. Their TE killed us and was beating Divinity regularly. I think losing Thompson hurt us more than we realized.

6. Find 5 mfers that can block and put them on the field.

simple things that could make our offense more productive.

This is what's so damn frustrating. There is no need for an offensive overhaul. Why can't they just be a little more imaginative with the play calling.

IMO, it would take much.

Agree with all.

Numbers 3&4 are the simplest and easiest to change. Ever since we went to this (the last couple of seasons) I've always thought they were bad ideas once we showed we can't execute them for their intended purposes consistently and, as a result, unnecessarily gave up field position.

I'll add #7. Do some misdirection plays for crying out loud. We have a speed advantage in almost every game (certainly last Saturday) giving our guys an extra step with the added advantage of knowing where the play is going can wreak havoc on a defenses and their tendencies - it can kill their anticipation and play calls. Keep them honest.

Start Etling at Qb, play Guice and Fournette at the same time, throw to receivers besides just Dupree and Dural.

Really. It's not a knock.

I mean, let's be honest here. Despite big talk, it's likely that most on the board never played past Jr. High.

And again, that's not a knock. Not everyone is a football player.

And, it's not to say that you MUST have played to be able to see the detail. But, it helps.

It helps you think, "what if I were the guy in that position.......what would I be thinking".

And no, I never played college ball(see my handle) But, as I'm sure most realize, it's an unfortunate reality that knowledge of the game is NOT all that matters. LOL. Being 6'1" 230 helps.

yup. it is like WW1 trench warfare. i formation against 9 in box is akin to the whistle blowing from the commanding officer to rise out the trenches and charge the other riflemen on other side across no man's land. we will keep doing it until we break through. problem is sometime or many times those guys charging with bayonets across no man's land get hit with a .30 caliber browning machine gun or a MG-42 shutting that crap down.
absolute insanity.

the hell with outflanking or outsmarting them.

we definitely can add the wild cat into the playbook you can either have donte Jackson back there with fournette in the slot which will cause the defense to pay attention to him then boom donte is gone I mean it's sooo much we can do that we're not doing

of course not and plenty can educate themselves other ways such as film and strategy study. But very few here do that from my observations. everybody in my family played football. my older brother played for USL/ULL. he was a lineman just like me. other bro was a DB.

this thread is funny considering you argued for 45 pages just last week that Les Miles was a good gameday coach

I argued that unless the coach was saban, miles has been more successful than the coach giving an anonymous qoute. Its also one thing to say we need changes and saying miles is a crap coach. Sorry you cant see the difference little guy.

stop with so many play action fakes- it stops Harris from making reads and frankly isn't effective in a lot of situations

My favorite was the end of the first half when we were obviously chunking it down the field and Cam was still calling play action fakes to fournette. I'm with you totally. Play action fakes with 7 step drops are dreadful if you don't have protection. Plus, Wisconsin had ZERO reason to stop bringing pressure and shooting gaps...we did not make them pay once....so what's the deterrent?
