Here's complete list which was compiled to honor the 150th anniversary of college football

10. LSU at Alabama
Nov. 5, 2011
In another reincarnation of the “Game of the Century” (see below), this one pitted No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama on a November night in Tuscaloosa. For those who enjoy offensive football, this wasn’t the game for you. The teams traded field goals in a defensive struggle, with Drew Alleman’s 30-yarder drawing the Tigers even at 6–6 early in the fourth. In overtime, the Crimson Tide missed their fourth field goal of the night, while hit Alleman cashed in from 25 yards out to start LSU’s celebration in a 9–6 victory. But Alabama would get the last laugh that season; in the rematch in the BCS national championship, the suffocating Tide D held the Tigers to a measly 92 yards of offense during a 21–0 drubbing.

9. Miami at Notre Dame: “Catholics vs. Convicts"
Oct. 15, 1988

8. Boston College at Miami: “Hail Flutie"
Nov. 23, 1984

7. Nebraska at Oklahoma: “Game of the Century"
Nov. 25, 1971

6. Clemson vs. Alabama
2017 CFP National Championship

5. Notre Dame at Michigan State
Nov. 19, 1966

4. Alabama at Auburn: “Kick Six"
Nov. 30, 2013

3. Boise State vs. Oklahoma
2007 Fiesta Bowl

2. Miami vs. Nebraska
1984 Orange Bowl

1. USC vs. Texas
2006 Rose Bowl

blue grass? cal-stanford? hell, that 7OT game could maybe throw its hats in this ring. I’d love to see where those games rank in the 150. I think I saw that the 7OT game was somehow not even in the top 10 of ESPN 2018 game rankings. Not sure who they have doing these rankings.

To me 9-6 would be at no.1 but I like defense though 3 and 1 were incredible and are understandably the best for some. It was definitely better than the Flutie and Kick 6 games which were all about the ending.

I've seen all but 7 and 5 but will say good list.

cal-stanford?

It's known for one play and they were 2 pretty mediocre teams

There have been a few SEC 5,6,7 OT games and none of them I would consider great.

And the Blue grass Miracle was not even the best game that season for LSU. Best single play yes but it was not a great game at all.

Best exit of a visiting stadium in my life. Those inbreds were brutal all day. That night in the bars was epic.

Then two months later it was the worst exit out the dome.

We really need to beat those bastards for all of our sanity

hard to argue. i've never stayed on the edge of my seat for an entire game before this one, and i really didnt care who won.

the problem is, none of those games meant anything. every game in the top 10 list above had HUGE ramifications.

Indeed. Very rarely do I care about watching entire games that I have no stake in.

I only started watching that game because I hated USC and wanted their dynasty to end. But I'll be damned if I didn't stay glued to the TV as if I were watching my own team play in the NC.

That game had it all. There simply isn't any better way to draw up a script for an incredible football game. It was like that game was dreamed up by Hollywood, right down to Vince Young running for the game-winning TD on 4th down.

Same, in a different era this would have easily rated number one but we live in an era of recency bias (though they did not go there very much in this instance) and the love of high powered offenses over evenly match defensive juggernauts.

Definitely #1 was a great game.

I was there. If not for Les Miles' intransigence and the grotesque manner that season ended, I think Reid's interception would have been remembered as the single greatest individual defensive play in the history of LSU football. But of course, after the humiliation of 1/9, it will be relegated to nothing more than interesting footnote in the annals.

If you love defense it’s absolutely up there.

People don’t appreciate dominant Defensive games like they do shootouts.

Those were all good games. But the games they listed all had much much more at stake for the winners and losers.

Too low scoring of a game to be considered "one of the best"

Fans other than Bama and LSU thought it was a boring game.
