SI Feature: Les Miles will no longer publicly say "LSU" & Kathy speaks on living in B.R

Les Miles has a new diet. He has a new job, having been fired from an SEC football powerhouse only to land at a Big 12 basketball school. He also has a new mannerism: He no longer publicly utters the three letters inscribed on the national championship ring he brandishes on his right hand, instead referring to LSU as “my last stop” or “the place I was last”.

Uprooting from Baton Rouge was hard, Kathy says, but it was also a relief. The family never left the city after Miles's firing. “It’s difficult to live there,” Kathy says. “It’s like the biggest party in Louisiana is going on, one you used to host, and you’re not invited. By no means did people make us feel that way. We just felt that way.”
Is Les Miles Ready for the Hardest Job in College Football?

Must have been real hard cashing all those checks.

I hope he does well at Kansas. I honestly think his antiquated ground & pound offense is the route to success there. They aren't going to out athlete anyone because they won't get the athletes. But they can out tough most of the Big 12.
It will be a less successful version of what Harbaugh did at Stanford. Trotting out a team built around toughness in a conference built around finesse.

Funny I don’t see him getting blacklisted from the Baton Rouge elite who paid him well. Unless the party is on saturdays in the fall and I always thought LSU and the fanbase always welcomed him back.

Dellenger puts out some really good articles.

He's so fricking gay

“Only twice in a month,” he says, “I’ve gone to the office without detour.” (Translation: Over the last month, he’s gotten lost all but two times on the drive to KU from his new home 15 minutes west of campus.)

It will win him some games but they will never win the big 12. All he has I to do is be bowl eligible half the time and show up to the basketball games and they will love him.

Honestly, I see it exactly the opposite. The reason he had some measure of success with his system at LSU was because he could out-athlete most teams. LSU was bigger, stronger, faster and hence, smashmouth football worked.
I think you’re convoluting his conservative style of play with things like the triple-option where between trickery and superior execution, lesser-talented teams can control the ball and put together drives.

Makes me sad a little.

I know he’ll probably retire before we could ever get them on the schedule, but I’d love to play them just to watch him twist his brain in a pretzel trying not to say LSU.

Yeah, but that can't be the expectation. As far as power 5 conferences go, Kansas has to be in the bottom five of teams as far as chances to win the conference in any given year go. Vandy would be all the way at the bottom, even though they're a better program than Kansas right now.

They would probably build a statue of him.

ahh boo hoo! You were sooooo paid though?!?!
Nobody, and I mean nobody, hates their former National Championship winning coaches more than LSU fans. Geaux Tigers!

ETA: I'm pulling for Les Miles to succeed at Kansas. He handled his dismissal at LSU with pure class.

I said it all the time, I liked Les as a guy just didnt care for him as a coach, so the statement about the party and not being invited makes me kind of sad. I hope he does really well there and retires on his terms.

Nah. Look at Boston College under Steve Addazzio. Shitty, no imagination offense, but just beat up teams on the way to 6 wins. That's pretty much what I'm talking about. (And then he got fired)

I agree. But the situations between the schools and conferences are so different.

Well, when you keep playing golden oldies at the party and everyone wants to hear newere dance music, dont get upset when you get replaced.

If you cant understand that they are talking about the football games then nobody can help you. Also, it would like going to a christmas party for the employer who just fired you. Nobody wants to do that. Another time where I will say if you can't at least understand a little then you cant be helped.
