Should he throw it to Nabers for the 5 yard gain, or should he tuck and run, forcing a sack for -1 yard in an otherwise clean pocket?

He's got 3 options open there.

There are 3 open receivers in that picture.

ETA: Taylor appears to be covered though. Probably why he didn’t throw it.

By the time he turns and sees Jenkins he’s probably not going to be an option but no excuse for not hitting Nabers or Williams.

Based on the picture you provided, Denbrock is not the problem.

The safest throw is to Nabers. Terrible decision to tuck and run.

yeah, terrible play design to have your most productive receiver wide the frick open for 5 yards on 1st and ten.

Actually, 8 and 10 are open but the problem is he should be already in his throwing motion (or already thrown) to them. Now that they are through their breaks, the coverage can see and break on the ball now. He is not anticipating the break and the open window

Throw it to Malik, take the easy 4-5 yards and set up 2nd and 5.

Having said that, when Josh Williams as the "checkdown" is only 1-2 yards shallower than 3 receivers in the pattern, that's not a great idea either

It’s not even debatable

He should have thrown it. It’s not a matter of whether it’s even a risky throw.
He had guys wide open.

This is what’s been happening all year.
The drops are probably because receivers are so surprised to see the ball come out of his hands

He should've threw it to Jaray before he even got out his break

Using still shots is hardly an accurate way to determine where a quarterback should throw the ball.

At least 1 guy, even if a dummy route, should be pulling a corner/nickel and a safety deeper. The entire advantage to putting 4 guys out there is to tax the defense.

In this case, 3 guys open, none are clear 1st downs, but it is 1st down. The criticism that JD makes 1 read (Taylor) then tucks it appears valid on this play.

Williams is his best option there. The guy close to him is leaning away.

The others look open but won’t be by the time the ball gets there.

So i went back to see what he saw before the snap...i remember 2019 there was always a defender that depending on what he did was where you went next....the defender on Jenkins at the top was way off(keep this in your pocket)....you read the bottom safety and he bails out making the route that Taylor has off...Taylor seems to be running a rub route with Nabers underneath...Both LBs eyes are on Taylor following him making Nabers the throw wide open...i would say this is a play that Burrow and Jefferson did alot...Jefferson would read the LB and if he went with the TE as both of them do he would continue in the middle....if the LB sits then he sits before he gets to him which is what he did...Idk if our QB doesnt have the confidence in our WR or what he sees out there or he doesnt know the plays

tRant quality OC if you think wr at top of screen is open. Safety off screen is on top of Taylor. Maybe 2 wr are open.

Daniels is a running qb though, so he thinks he can get more than 5 yds on his feet until the pocket collapses on him. However, it’s 1st down, so I agree he should get the quick yds to Nabers.
