My parents have been season ticket holders for almost 40 years....way before TAF existed. They renew their tickets every year and also donate an additional $300/year to TAF. They didn't get BCSCG tickets this year or in 2007.

Something's up there. If you've had 4 tickets since the beginning of TAF and receive an additional 3.03 points for 13 years now, they should be in the top 4057.

6 sideline tix on the same account would have resulted enough points to get tickets

Yeah, I'm hearing similar stories from all over, and to be perfectly honest, dismiss them as BS.

I've 'had' tickets for many seasons that I purchased from a friend, that were not in my name. I suppose many of these people are dealing with that fact, and/or stretching the truth about their years or amounts of financial support given to the university in their name.

There is also the possibility that they got tickets, and just don't have a reason to let anyone know, in order not to hurt anyone's feelings.

They have 2 season tickets. I believe that their TAF ranking is somewhere in the upper 5000's or low 6,000's.

I've had four TAF tickets since 2001 and just missed the cut.

Well, you must also factor in that these same people, if given tickets, may very well have them on Stubhub, but don't want anyone to know.

Agreed... My first payment was to the TAF in 1999..$100..Got 4 tickets the next year along with a parking pass. 2001 added two more tickets and an additional parking pass. We've made the min donation every year and I'm number 3007. We were number 400 or so in 2003. With the changes in the point system recently we plummeted near a 1000 spots but are still well within the margin.

It's unfortunate, but eliminate TAF, or any fundrasing arm, and watch how quickly this program declines. We'll be back to hiring mediocre coaches, and the good ones will leave for more money. We won't be able to keep up our faciilities. Making a bowl game will be a successful year.

The fees we pay for LSU tickets aren't even close to what is paid for Bama tickets.

Theoretically if someone was a ticket holder for a long time via taf they would have the points. Unfortunately no one knew in the 80's what taf would become. I think there should be some account taken for longevity.

People just don't seem to understand how artificial TAF really is. It is a quirk in the legal system that was created as a loophole around laws regarding donations to LSU. Change the laws and you can get an entirely new fundraising arm besides TAF.

Please understand that I'm not criticizing any specific TAF politices here; I'm just saying that TAF's existence is not an optimal situation.

Don't believe the PR hype they're trying to force feed you.

Is there a Tradition Fund contribution associated with their tickets?

Regardless 3.03 points for 13 years nets you nearly 40. I'm at about 6400 and I have just over 20 points. There's something wrong here.

Optimal to what?

Whether it's TAF, or an LSU Foundation, at the end of the day the results will be the same. Both will be a fundraising mechanism to maintain and grow sports (specifically football). So those that are able to "support" the cause with hefty donations will reap the benefits. It's how we keep up with other university's athletic factilites. It's how we are competing at such a high level.

Remove the TAF and change the law. It won't matter. Those that pay more will benefit more.

This only can happen if they kept endzone seats for 40 years.. why did they never upgrade to sideline seats, when all tickets used to cost the same amount?

Should count but doesn't. LSU athletics is a money making corporation. Gotten any consideration from any of them lately? I bought my first Mac computer in 1992. Supported them all through their lean years, got friends to convert, etc. Did I get a free iPod when they took off? Ha, ha, ha, good one , huh?

I've only been a season ticket holder less than a decade since I graduated and I got 2 tickets. If I can do it, you'd think a long time holder could too. If not, enjoy watching at home.

What PR hype are you talking about? I view TAF as a way for people to donate money specifically to LSU athletics, and in return they get the opportunity to buy tickets, parking passes, etc that the general public does not get. What am I missing here?

What else do you want? Are you saying there's no other way to give money to LSU?

I think loyalty IS calculated into the TAF formula. My account shows 1 pt for every year of "giving" (I'm assuming that's ticket purchases) prior to 2002. I also have 30 loyalty points. Not sure what this is. Assuming some benefit given for years and donations.

That's VERY difficult for me to believe ! How many priority points have they accumulated ? WHEN did they start contributing $ 300 /yr. to TAF ? Something is either wrong with your story OR with TAF's accounting. You would EASILY be in the top 4000 IF you actually have season tickets, of any kind, AND contributed $300/yr. since TAF began !
