Yep. I actually preferred Kobe when they were playing even though Shaq was an LSU guy. I felt like Shaq threw shade when he didn’t have to. But once he retired you could tell the respect and ultimately love he grew to share with a guy he went through the battles with and realized neither was ever as good apart as they were together.
I don’t know if it’s because we’re about the same age so I watched him from Day 1 but man this is really hitting me.

This is unreal. Prayers to his family. I along with so many other kids growing up idolized Kobe and he truly left his mark on the game. When Joe tweeted about it, I got the sickest feeling in my stomach and teared up at the thought of ever losing Joe as people responded to him to be safe. Just never know when you’re gonna go. RIP Black Mamba.
