Does anyone who has looked into this know if it takes effect the minute it is signed, or are there clauses written into it that it takes effect the following season, or would that just be up to the NCAA?

Just curious if it WERE to pass if you would see mid season rosters change based on people who are aged out being immediately ineligible? Seems that would be a bit egregious

What’s worse? Enforcing the actual rule. Or letting court orders rule you?

think this gives better coaches a huge advantage. And lsu has one of the best.

It brings schools like Alabama that have an entire state willing to bend the rules but not the money back to the top.

Nothing will change

The big boys will always find a way to get money to the guys. Laughable to have a salary cap

the one-time transfer rule is a joke and will be contested. They can still transfer if their coach leaves and as a grad so they can still transfer 3x.

The "lane kiffin rule" is ridiculous

First of all he didn't leave the team, they gave him an ultimatum to sign an extension or hit the road.

2nd fix the f'n schedule. No reason for the portal to open in December. WTF did they think would happen?

But back to the point, LSU was fine with waiting. Lane wanted to coach his team. I guess this rule would prevent an Ole Miss from kicking their coach to the curb before the playoffs?

The labor should make a fair wage. The labor is what makes college football and the multi million dollar tv deals, apparel deals etc. if your going to cap he labor, cap it he ceos too. Then labor and coaches will follow the conditions not just money. Coaches will probably stay at schools longer, and players won’t transfer just for more money.

No, I understand what your saying and kind of agree. It just seems like there would be total chaos if it takes effect mid season for whatever sport

am against this based on the last minute resolution they changed. The bill capped coaches salaries at $5 million. They changed that at the last minute to have no cap.

While I would agree to some type of yearly wage cap, let’s not pretend a HC doesn’t have infinitely more responsibility than a star player.

Is this something that’s good or bad for LSU and the other powerhouses?

is the clause about coaching changes still in there?

if so, expect that to be challenged in court and ultimately struck down.

the way it was originally written (don't know if has been amended or not)

nobody who served in any role of Football Athletic personnel during a season can assume any roles of a head coach of another school until the seasons of both schools (his old and his new) are completely finished.

that's not just limiting a head coach from jumping ship.
but ever a coordinator looking to get a head coaching job at another school somewhere.

hell, he can't even publicly admit to being the new coach of a new school until his current school plays their last game of the year (including any bowl game, etc.)

It all goes back to: how can you restrict someone from getting a job that pays them outside of the school.

quote:

the one-time transfer rule is a joke and will be contested.

If they set it up properly, it won't be contested successfully.

They can still transfer if their coach leaves and as a grad so they can still transfer 3x.

So like the old rules. got no issues with this.

I would assume it will have some revisions by the house if they take it up which will result in it failing at some point.

I’m all for rules. First needs to be the transfer portal. Second is signing day scheduling. While no governing board is perfect, I absolutely don’t like giving the NCAA and the conferences more power. We have seen how they wield it against teams that don’t go along to get along

After how they treated LSU as if we were trying to burn college sports at the stake. For trying to bring on two guys for depth. The narrative that they spun that these were two "NFL players" coming back to college.

NO frick everyone. I hope he's pulled from that team kicking, screaming and crying. I want to see Pete Golding and all the Ole Miss fans crying their eyes out about the injustice.

This isn't about Trinidad. I could honestly give a frick whether he played or not. Until they did what they did to LSU. I have complained a lot about Trinidad being able to play this year. But I didn't START to complain about it. Until the lawfare against LSU started. They tried to kick us out the SEC for doing stuff that everyone else was doing. Not only was everyone else doing it. They're doing it even more egregiously than LSU is. They're all doing the same shite, exploiting loopholes. They just waited until LSU found one to exploit and they pulled the trap shut on us. While ignoring everyone elses wrongdoings.

Look at the SEC Rant. It's CONSTANT shite about LSU and how big of cheaters they are and how we should be kicked out the SEC.

It's never going to Trump's desk. Even if it does, the Courts are going to strike it down as unconstitutional.

Given Congress' track record or screwing up everything they touch -- literally everything -- I find it hilarious that some of y'all think they can fix something as complex and convoluted as college sports.

They will F this up. It will somehow screw LSU. And y'all will cry.

Book it.

Johnson, once again, has the House recessed until after the elections in November. When they return they have to vote on things like the debt ceiling, FISA, etc.

Very unlikely it’ll get voted on this season, it would appear.

Our Congress is essentially useless.

For 2027

It would not affect player eligibility for the ongoing 2026 season; the new rules are structured to begin with the first offseason or transfer portal window for each sport after the bill becomes law, so they would primarily impact the 2027 season and beyond (assuming timely passage and signing).
