So you can't quit your job? Forced to work? Feels like this issues has been previously decided.

Trying to push richer conferences to revenue share with smaller conferences and forcing coaches to stay at a job that they don't want.

Those are some real Commie ideas coming from a so called conservative like Ted Cruz.

Does this mean the school that coach is leaving is not allowed to let him finish the season no matter how publicly and ardently he makes it known that he wants to finish the season?

I think it means that if the Ole Miss playoff situation happened again, Ole Miss would be forced to allow Kiffin to coach through the playoffs.

Which season would be the question I would want to know. Does a coach have to wait until after the NC game, when the entire season is over? Can they bolt after their teams season is over? They can sign a recruiting class and a portal class and then bail? As an AD, would you want a coach in charge of that who has already agreed to another job? Can a coach be fired before the end of the season? This just sounds ridiculous.

Instead of this bullshite they need to fix the CFB calender. If the portal opened after the Natty w/ NSD in February this would have never happened.

This is wouldnt have changed anything. Even if Joey left after Miami game, old piss would still in meltdown mode 7 months later.

Look at the coach from aTm, he left the day after they lost out of the finals of the cws and went to Texas. aTm still lost it.

This has been a thing for decades. Who got butt hurt now?

Raises lots of issues... If coach wants to coach but school wants him to leave, can they force him out mid-season?

What about accepting a new position mid year? Are coaches allowed to interview and accept a new position?

And if the coach accepts a new position mid-year an they start recruiting and building a staff?

Does this rule only go for football? or all sports?

Is this rule only for the HC?

Is this rule only for the regular season, through the playoffs? Wat if the team doesn't make the playoffs but still in a lesser bowl?

Gonna be a serious egal problem when a coach loses the opportunity to get the job they really wanted, maybe with a significant raise in pay because of this rule.

What about accepting a new position mid year? Are coaches allowed to interview and accept a new position? Yes? But the coach cannot represent the new school until the end of the competitive season.

And if the coach accepts a new position mid-year an they start recruiting and building a staff? No

Does this rule only go for football? or all sports? Football only

Is this rule only for the HC? All football staff

Is this rule only for the regular season, through the playoffs? Wat if the team doesn't make the playoffs but still in a lesser bowl? The rule is effective until the final intercollegiate competition for each school. It seems to be school specific so if both are done playing then they're in the clear.

Gonna be a serious egal problem when a coach loses the opportunity to get the job they really wanted, maybe with a significant raise in pay because of this rule.

From what I found in the actual bill.

Will be interesting if this applies for promotions and analysts/GAs.

Lane wanted to finish the season and was pushed out by the AD because he was going to LSU.

But the flip side is if Lane were to leave in 3 years and took the Bama job in Nov and going back and forth to Tuscaloosa and recruiting LSU players, this board would 100% want Verge to cut him loose.

It’s a bill. It was not “agreed to”.

Reread it and it only applies to head coaches and coordinators. I guess associate head coach is a grey area.

Yes. With exceptions for head coach departures and grad transfers.

So can a school fire a coach midseason? Seems like it should go both ways, right?

illegal to force someone to stay at a job if they want to leave when they choose, hence liquidated damages clauses in contracts
