Sankey's affidavit cites LSU holding the roster spots open as the basis for seeking this TRO. It's also full of bullshite.

quote:

49. LSU did not include professional players on its football roster on September 4, 2026, but left open roster spots so that professional players could be added to the roster later. Adding players after the deadline for finalizing a roster, which was September 4, 2026, is permitted by SEC and NCAA Bylaws if there are open roster spots and the players are enrolled as students at the institution.

quote:

50. Officials speaking on behalf of LSU continued publicly to criticize the Professionalism Rules and the positions and actions taken by the SEC CEOs during the week of August 24, 2026. In a halftime interview at the football game between LSU and Clemson when LSU had a substantial lead in the game, in an interview with ABC sports, Coach Kiffin commented that the score differential would have been even greater if LSU had played the professionals.

quote:

51. After the Clemson game in a publicly distributed press conference reported on X, Coach Kiffin reiterated his disagreement with and objections to the Professionalism Rules and to the position of the SEC.

quote:

52. Coach Kiffin’s statements and position, along with the numerous other statements and actions by Defendants alleged hereinabove, as contrasted with the silence by the President and Athletic Director of LSU after the President of LSU voted for the Policy Statement on August 25, 2026, confirm the lack of institutional control over the athletics program at LSU that is required by Article 6 of the SEC Constitution and by the remaining provisions of the Constitution and Bylaws referenced above.

also

quote:

59. Defendants’ conduct creates competitive imbalance among SEC member institutions. LSU’s stated intent to roster professional athletes in contravention of the Professionalism Rules, while other institutions have followed the rules and rostered only college athletes, provides an unfair competitive advantage to LSU

It's bullshite, all hypothetical, and needs to be denied

This is funny because the SEC is saying since our president/AD isn't tweeting out stuff that we don't have institutional control.

LOL - yes a potential 1.9% of the roster is going to absolutely help LSU run away with the SEC title.

Also Lane saying he didn’t agree with the eligibility rules, which you can find about 50 other coaches who have said similar things.

So we didn’t break a rule, but we’re thinking hard about it. Gotcha

So this is in fact all about the SEC being butthurt over their lack of control of Kiffin. Nothing in this is against rules before or to now. (Until SEC started making rules as they went)

Kiffin said himself he left it opened in case the SEC changed its stance on the issue. I'm not sure how that can be held against Lane,

Not just that. By keeping two spots open that we may never fill, we will have a competitive advantage.

By artificially limiting ourselves, we've created a competitive advantage.

Oh wow lol. Oh boy...this is lol. They're amending this because they got butthurt over a statement lol. This is so sad. Because we did exactly what they told us to do which was not roster the players, and you still want to punish us for...what exactly? I think they want us to publicly state all of this to the media to embarass us.

Jesus fricking Christ man, that's so hypothetical and immature. Sankey has no fricking clue who would take up those additional spots, if they're even filled at all. So he's throwing a hypothetical into the lawsuit, based on his assumption those spots will go to those two players in question.

frick this guy.

No mention of the coach stating they are in daily contact with the conference office?

Don't forget the SEC quote in the filing about kicking LSU out of the SEC whether they break the rule or not.

SEC literally arguing on kicking LSU out of the conference for NOT breaking a rule.

Might be a homer take... but if I were the judge, I'd toss this entire thing and issue a Gatekeeper Order to stop them from filing in another venue.

The whole thing is absurd on its face and smacks of abuse of process.

See above, the SEC essentially admitted that when they said they're trying to toss LSU from the SEC even if they don't break any rules.

What about the other 3 or 4 SEC schools that left open roster spots.

Isn’t this against Kiffin’s own right of freedom of speeech?

So, you don’t like him and are going to completely abuse your power and vote on removal.

I hope the entire SEC falls apart. This guy is ramming his dick into a brick wall.
