The SEC’s lawsuit against LSU looks a lot weaker when you strip away the rhetoric.

LSU didn’t invent this “loophole.” Courts had already granted eligibility relief to former pros, and Alabama actually played Charles Bediako under a TRO after he had signed an NBA contract and played in the G League.

LSU also wasn’t the only school recruiting these players. Dae’Quan Wright publicly named Ole Miss, South Carolina and Virginia Tech among the schools showing interest, and other players had multiple Power 4 offers.

Then, after LSU started pursuing these players, the SEC adopted its new blanket rule barring former pros.

So the SEC can call it a “coordinated campaign” all it wants, but the facts show LSU was participating in a recruiting market created by court rulings — not inventing some rogue scheme.

And legally, LSU didn’t “force” the SEC to do anything. The restrictions on the SEC came from court orders. If the SEC doesn’t like those orders, challenge them in court.

That’s why LSU has a strong argument that this lawsuit is really a conference eligibility dispute dressed up as a federal constitutional case.

We would be fine in the big 12 or ACC. It would be a mistake for us to try and go independent.

We are a much more valuable property than Tulane ever was.

I've changed my opinion on Saturday night's atmosphere. Previously, I said the atmosphere would be great to start the game. But just like any other game, how sustained it would be was dependent on how the game itself went.

I no longer think that is the case. There is too much vitriol in the air...and it has nothing to do with Clemson. I think the atmosphere will be much more like the 2019 LSU v. Vanderbilt basketball game that took place right after Alleva and F. King suspended Wade following the "strong arse offer" report. Only this time the crowd anger won't be directly at the LSU AD and President. It will be towards the SEC, media, and college football at large.

If you were at the basketball game 7 years ago you'll remember that the game itself was somewhat the secondary story. Vanderbilt was the worst team in the SEC (0-17 in conf. play) and an LSU win would clinch the SEC championship. But the crowd that night was relentless towards Alleva, the LSU admin, and anyone else. Every timeout was met with angry chants toward them, angry signs, etc.

That is what is coming Saturday. Only this time it won't be 12k or so people at a game on the SEC network. It will be 90k+ in both the SEC and college football's marquee game.

To the Clemson fans and players, I'm sorry. You didn't create this atmosphere. But you are about to get all of the hostility peak Tiger Stadium is famous for.

This one will be fun!

They better hope every other program is in lockstep and not recruiting a single one of the players behind the scenes.

Otherwise, they just opened up a shitstorm of a countersuit to be filed.

Exactly what was thinking. I’m starting to feel a little sorry for Clemson. They have no idea what they are about to experience.

I mean Lane didn't recruit these guys till after the NCAA came out with their 5 for 5 rule, right? So what is the point of this lawsuit except that they hate Lane and LSU.

It's already stated that other SEC schools contacted these players before LSU - can't remember if it was Harris or Wright but I believe he already stated on the radio that Ole Miss was the first school to reach out - which would either indict other SEC schools or absolutely blow up in the SEC's face - which tells me the SEC doesn't have shite and is expecting the lose the lawsuit, which would put a ton of egg on Sankey's face.

and the 2nd point is if LSU did this after the first federal verdict that stated the players would be eligible before the judge put a hold than the SEC can go frick itself because we would have thus be recruiting eligible players before the SEC even came out with their stupid arse rule.

Long story short: SEC can GFY.

100%

LSU is not a party to the players' legal action in BR. The SEC has now fired a shot by taking legal action against LSU.

If you want to fight, let's fight. Remove all SEC marks from the stadium and uniforms. Personally, I generally don't make it a habit to promote the brand of someone suing me.

So if Dae'Quan's agent gets on the stand and has proof that Ole Miss also deliberately recruited Pro Athletes, then what? Will they add Ole Miss to the suit?
