"It's WAAAYYYY back there....It's WAAAAYYYYYYY back there....It's WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY back there...... and the catcher catches it in foul ground for the third out."

"This week..........................................end"

"The second sacker"

The most annoying thing about listening to him do a baseball game is that when his color guy had to correct him -- WHICH WAS VERY, VERY, VERY OFTEN -- you could hear him get a little pissy about getting corrected.

Come on man I would put his Warren Morris walk off call up there with any call in SEC history!

The one where he called it a 3-run homer? I'll give you the enthusiasm was genuine and real.

and they went into the Tennessee radio network but no mention of LSU's relationship with WWL and night football which back in the day could be heard virtually anywhere in the lower 48 states...

I can still remember hearing Ferguson call a pass "almost incomplete!" Took him awhile to clarify whether it was complete or intercepted!!!

Ferguson was great in 80's (once described and interception as "he grew drew ball out of the atmosphere") but given his "unusual" ending I think they felt they needed to not highlight him much. I'm not looking to get banned but those over 45 and here when he passed know the story...

I found something odd digging in the obits and Advocate Archives. He apparently didn't want a funeral service at all. And was cremated and buried at Port Hudson. Oh And the Advocate fricked up his death announcement pretty bad.

Maybe he had some mental decline at the end and alienated some folks. But that's no reason to cast his legacy aside.

Jim isn’t in the same realm as Larry Munson and John Ward. Those are real genuine homer legends.

Jim was the PBP guy for us for almost 40 years. He's definitely in the realm of a lot of the guys that were covered, certainly as much as Jack Cristi, Eli Gold, etc

How was it fricked up? Just listened to it again, he says hits a 2 run home run. Not three like some want to believe.

How do I put this delicately, the family did not want a funeral because an "extra" previously unknown member emerged, think how the Mormons used to do it...
