re: SEC Statement on PI call in UT-UGA game

am not certain what you were watching. The defensive player latched on to the receiver, then the receiver pushed off to get loose. At a minimum it was defensive holding. PI was the right call.

The receiver runs directly into a stationary defender and then grabs and pulls the defender
Calling anything besides offensive PI or holding is egregious

It is evident they care less about getting it right than they do about profitability.
But they got that call right

PI is called all the time…rightly and wrongly.
It is FAR FAR FAR worse that the crew clearly reviewed and changed a call that was made on the field that is by the rules not a reviewable call.
It sucks…but you can screw up a judgement call. It happens all the time. You cannot break the rules.
Getting it right in the end does not matter.

Well the refs DID blow the call. It wasn't PI.

The NCAA must fire the referee immediately. Of course the original call was incomprehensible, but no way it can be reversed like that. That was an Alabama level double eff job on UGA.

I just don’t see how you can say Texas got favoritism when the end result was simply the right call being made
Obviously, you don’t get it. It has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the call being bad. You cannot reverse that call or review it because it wasn’t reversible or reviewable.
Texas clearly got favoritism because of the other targeting calls. It was a complete joke. COMPLETE JOKE.

I think 2 wrongs made a right. The refs made a bad call and broke the rules by reversing the call, but the end result was correct. The concern is that this will encourage other spectators to misbehave in future games. The league should just make the call reviewable.

I’ve also found that officials (more this year than in the past) don’t understand the standard of “indisputable video evidence” “beyond all doubt.”
It’s insane they don’t get it right. There is a replay official in the stadium that talks to the replay officials in Birmingham (along with additional replay technicians ) while the ref on the field watches exactly what those replay officials are watching and can hear what they are saying.
And during that time ABC/ESPN has shown 20 angles of the replay, had a “rules expert” on and the commentators have made their predictions - and the refs then still take 2 or 3 more min - just to get it wrong.

Just watched the play for the first time and it's offensive pass interference if anything.
Then 15 yards from the end of the play against the fans for throwing things on the field.

Sankey is a slimy little shite and absolutely nothing will be done.

Hundreds of water bottles. Not just one. Had to clean the field to continue

quote:i peeped this all the way back in 2009 where LSU and Arkansas were robbed by the refs when they played Bama and Florida. The SEC big wigs wanted Florida and Bama unblemished for an SEC championship bout and championship appearance.
Oh no! More fans are waking up to the fact that the SEC blatantly fixes games and they can't handle it.
Look at UT coming right into the SEC and getting the Bama treatment already. Money does talk.
I couldn't believe more people weren't talking about the obvious EXTREME bias in Texas and Oklahoma's schedules.
I know yall realized that since UGA became the big dog in the SEC, Bama has has an insane amount of penalties, right? They no longer get the favoritism treatment.

Refs are stupid and won't be held accountable since blame is being pushed towards the fans.

Correct. Looked like he was coming to just block the CB instead of actually make any type of play on the ball. Should've been OPI. UGA player saw the play coming and had his head up. Wrong call made both times but it would've been Texas ball at the UGA 9 regardless. Pretty sure the announcers questioned the DPI call during the review.

The nfl refs also cheat. Remember the no call, call, then wave it off PI in the Saints playoff game against the Rams?

There's enough money in CFB that the P4 should have full time refs.
