Alabama alumni run the SEC. Of course they do everything they can to help Alabama. Getting the SEC headquarters out of Alabama would help.

It’s amazing this dork references stuff from the past where technology didn’t exist to say things are subjective. We dont have to guess anymore we could get it right if we wanted to. He just chooses not to. The guy is an embarrassing commissioner

It's could also easily apply to the atrocious Tennessee hose job vs. Alabama

Skanky nothing but an empty golf shirt, pond scum big bag of nothing Bammer lover.

When he dissed my alma mater over the asinine Gaytor hurricane game drama, he became nothing in my view.

Veteran SEC official Matt Austin moved into the TV studio to offer expert analysis and rules interpretations in real-time on game days. Matt is not an employee of the SEC and is able to provide his independent perspective through various ESPN platforms, but primarily through the SEC Network. The SEC is the only conference to have an officiating analyst specifically assigned to its conference network.
This douchebag is a fricking joke. He has not once disagreed with a shitty call.

The officiating in the Tennessee-Bama game was a fricking disgrace. Those refs were either completely incompetent and should be fired, or actively cheating to ensure Alabama won, and should be fired

Actively cheating for Alabama secures their job and a handsome bonus check from the REC

we have been getting it up the arse for years from these crooks and have been called losers for pointing it out by these fans of other schools in the SEC who denied it was happening. I'm just glad some of these other fan bases are starting to open their eyes to what has been going on.

But I wonder if these cockroaches in Birmingham even care when the light shines on their dirt bag ways

these refs are hired by personnel from the SEC Birmingham criminal enterprise office and they understand who butters their bread and how these calls need to go if they want to have any long term job security. Plus a lot of them are just good ole country boy rednecks who are going to have a natural affinity for Bama anyway which goes a long way towards the reason they are hired in the first place. If you want the job as an SEC ref you need to go to the interview wearing a red ball cap with a big A right on the front while simultaneously claiming that you are impartial.

i agree.

I remember when we played Georgia..... trying to think of the year, maybe 2006? It was in Athens, I do remember that. It was a close game but we ended up winning. I remember Charles Scott running into the end zone, scoring a TD and he simply pointed to the sky with both hands. That's literally all he did. No dancing around or anything else, just pointed. The refs threw a flag on that.

I remember a fallout from that game and the entire officiating crew was fired. I don't remember the name of the ref, I remember him being a younger guy. That's literally the only time I've ever seen anything happen to an SEC officiating crew.

This was another point brought up in the article. SEC refs by comparison to other leagues take much much longer to be accepted. You have to prove your loyalty for years to the SEC Office “Alabama” just to get hired as an official here. Once it is known where you stand without question it doesn’t require as much cross office communication to get what everyone wants done.

Remarkable thing is how most SEC teams get screwed by the refs EXCEPT Alabama.

So much focus by many is on whether Alabama gets away with late hits or OL holding or having Devin White suspended during 1H last year or whatever.

However, equally telling, has Alabama ever gotten screwed by the refs in any way?

Missing calls against is one thing. NEVER getting screwed over is another.

You do know alabama is the most penalized team in the sec.

Funny how this letter comes out after Tennessee got rail-roaded by the officials several times against bama last weekend in egregious fashion. When LSU or other SEC teams not named bama get terrible calls it’s usually just the team fan base that complains after the game about the officiating. But this Tennessee/Bama game was so bad that not only did the Tennessee fan base loudly complain but you had other team fan bases in and outside the conference complain too.

I believe this letter is a reaction to that.

It’s not number of penalties. It’s when they are called and the non calls. My favorite in the Tennessee game was on second and goal for Tenn. The score was 14-7 bama. Tenn had a trick play called and Bama could not get lined up defensively. Refs stop the game. Ridiculous.
