Now watch A&M try to steal Jay from LSU. Could you imagine?

Why did they hire the loser?
Posted on 6/26/24 at 5:54 am to bradygolf98
Don't laugh, a&m might hire Jay

Absolutely. It's up there with Tuberville, Kiffin, Chris Beard. Might be the slimiest of them all tbh.
I think Lincoln Riley might be the only one worse than this I can think of simply because he had assistants recruiting for USC while still employed by OU. That's a new level of scummy.
I think what Bobby Petrino did to the Falcons was the worst.

lol didn't he just say he wasn't leaving?
Always a bad sign.

Their shortlist is
Sully
Mangione
They will be back. If they take Jay Johnson, you can look to LSU hiring one of those two. My guess is Mangione.

Frick the players. They are all jumping for NIL money. The coach owes them nothing.
This is where we’re headed. You have LSU players telling the coach they’ll be back then enter the portal a few day’s later.

My gosh you are a complete dumbass.

"What a home run hire," Texas president Jay Hartzell said in announcing the hire Tuesday night. "Coach Schlossnagle is the best in the business, his long list of accomplishments is incredible, and his track record of building great programs is well documented. We are the premier baseball program in the country with legendary coaches, our six national championships and record 38 College World Series appearances..."
Great record Texas! A history to be proud of!
But, its been almost 20 years.... So, if we're living in the present, you are not currently the "premier baseball program in the country" - especially with that dump of a baseball stadium.
Since the Longhorns last CWS championship in 2005: Oregon State has won 3, and South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and LSU have all won 2. And as of right ow, the other UT is currently on top.
And 6 CWS titles is only good enough for 3rd place.
And your new coach is certainly good, but "best"? The best have won CWS titles and there are a handful of those still coaching.

And people forget the recruiting advantage that TOPS provides, especially in sports like baseball where the NCAA scholarship limit is only a fraction of your roster size and most scholarship players are only on partial scholarships. TOPS lets you recruit in-state players to essentially be walk-ons receiving TOPS and save your athletic scholarships to target out of state players.
Jay ain’t leaving

NIL has basically allowed for all players to be on full rides. No player is having to come out of pocket for school expenses in the SEC anymore.

I am not one to side with Paul Finebaum ever. But his press conference when he was "offended" by the question about the job opening is just an absolute clown show now. Like this is exactly why you were asked that question. You look like an absolute joke and are clearly not a man of your word. I don't like A&M at all and find their fans insufferable but this is 100% something to be pissed about.

And the question was worded very carefully to give him an opportunity to avoid it without tipping his hat.
He chose not to because he's a small person.
This will end poorly for Texas.

At this point, I’m surprised Austin and college station hasn’t gone Israeli/Gaza

probably not, but he's gonna get a call. Aggy will shoot for the moon, because that's what they do.

His dugout interview last night when he mentioned wanting to put up a 17 spot seemed a little like he did not care about winning,
Yep, pretty crappy the way it went down. The players deserved better. And for all the “little brother” comments what does it say about “big brother” that he has to steal the spot light? Sound pretty insecure for a school that fancy itself as the premier baseball program
