Bored, my class ended way early, thought I'd write this up:

All scenarios assume OSU and Clemson go 13-0 for the sake of discussion

- Obviously, if Auburn pulls off the upset in the Iron bowl, Bama would be 10-2 and might not even be in a NY6

- Georgia wins out (including SECCG). Not ideal obviously, but UGA and LSU would get in with Bama getting kicked to the curb.

- Baylor wins out. 13-0 Big 12 champ with 2 wins over Oklahoma doesn't miss the playoffs. I'd say that Oklahoma winning out and being a 12-1 Big 12 Champ with 2 wins over Baylor would be enough, but I still think Bama would be in the discussion.

- Auburn loses to Georgia and Bama, and the Pac-12 and Big 12 champs both have only one loss. Okay, so this one needs explaining. If Alabama's best win is over a 4 loss and possibly unranked Auburn and there are TWO 1 loss P5 Conference champs, the committee simply could not allow Bama to make it over both of those teams with no quality wins. Although, I wouldn't be shocked if they did let them in anyway.

Oregon and Utah will be top 10 teams playing in the Pac-12 Championship.

There is no reason for Alabama to be in the playoff over the winner of this game. If so, it is broken.

I agree with this, but I'm more talking about situations where Alabama would have next to no chance of being in. 11-1 Alabama might be enough for the committee over 12-1 Pac-12 champ alone

ETA: especially if Auburn beats Georgia this week. that would make the Iron Bowl a top 10 win for Alabama

-Oklahoma wins out. Two wins over Baylor
-Penn State wins out.
-Ohio State/Minnesota wins out
-Baylor wins out, can't keep an undefeated P5 out
-Oregon wins out. Beat a Top 10 Utah
-Auburn beats bama

Keep in mind, in 2011, Oklahoma State did not play in a conference championship game. If they had, and had won it, they would've gotten in over A1abama. Can't see the committee picking a team that finished 2nd in its division/third in its conference over a one-loss P5 conference champion who played in and won a 13th game, i.e., a conference championship game.

Definitely, provided that the PAC XII champ is 12-1. There's even some traction for the argument that Minnesota should be in over Bama if they go 12-0 and lose in the Big X championship game to 12-0 Ohio State.

We should all be pulling for UGA to beat Auburn on Saturday, as that would further weaken Bama's already weak SOS.

Baylor is not winning out but the other things are all very possible. Ga beating Auburn this Sat would help right off the bat.

I cannot stress this enough.....BAMA is not getting in over ANY 1 loss champion. If Oregon or Utah win out and Baylor or OU win out, 1 of those teams will be left out, but NOT because Bama is in.

The only scenario in which Bama gets in, is if there are multiple 2 loss conference champs. BUT I will also state that if Penn State wins out there will be an argument that Ohio State should get the 4th spot.

Please quit obsessing over Bama. This is how it's going to play out......BAMA will be 4th in CFPP as long as they win out.....AFTER Championship weekend, while Bama is NOT playing multiple conference champions will jump them in the final poll to determine the 4 teams.

The first thing to do is hope UGA wins. Once we get through this weekend well see where it stands then.

If either of the PAC-12s win out and meet in the championship...Bama is out 100%.

Bama is not making the playoff, unless they buy someone's spot.

What everyone needs to focus on is us winning out.

If we fall to GA in the SEC championship game and Oregon and /or Oklahoma have one loss and are conference champions, there is no guarantee the committee picks us. We would have a good chance to get in, but no one knows that for sure.

ive even heard this argument that even if baylor wins out they wont get in...its crazy to me they would keep a undefeated Big 12 team out over a 1 loss team that didnt even play a conf championship game...i bet if Oklahoma was the undefeated team it wouldnt be question...thats why it shows that previous years are looked at when making the decision and of course meaning bama has made it every year and would trump baylor

Well that argument is absolutely false and was probably made by an Alabama fan that thinks they get in over everyone. For Baylor to win out they'd have to beat Oklahoma and Texas during the regular season and then Oklahoma again in the big 12 championship. An undefeated Baylor has no chance of being left out for Alabama. Wins are more important than losses and the only strong point Alabama has in their favor is that they have a good loss. Baylor wouldn't have a loss.
