We could understand the coach when he spoke in the interview.

We battled hard and the players seemed to care. Can't really say that about the past two years.

We had several close games last year in which we battled.

We lost our best defensive lineman early in the game and still held them to about 3.50 ypc a week after they had 3 100 yd rushers

The 2 minute offense to get the TD at the end of the game was a thing of beauty and tells me the team is well coached.

There are several other things that happened that tells you the opposite.

The Tigahs overcome a slew of glaring mistakes and dang near won that game.

Case in point. Nabers miffed that punt reception. Poor guy, he's devastated. His teammates and coaches gather around him to console him. He was inconsolable. So what did his teammates do? They go out and recover a Seminole fumble. Then march down the field and with 1 second left (1 second) they score.

Dang, I darned near had a cardiac incident.

It's not absolutely important to me that this team wins or loses. I just want to see (to know) they fought like hell to win.

I want character building. The will to win.

WIN!

Secondary was way better than I expected. Hopefully they earned some trust with the staff.

Ward played well and is a hitter.

Needs to wrap up and tackle.

He did fall for hit instead of wrap up trap at least once that led to a gain. Todd Harris used to do that crap all the time. Drove me crazy.

The defense was solid and should keep us in a lot of games.

Ward is a good hitter who NEVER wraps up. It’s as if he has no arms. That’s going to hurt us in SEC play.

I’ll say something positive about the negative. Little things cost us the game. Things that you may expect the first game but hope don’t happen. Things that should and will be fixed. One busted coverage on a truck play. Couple of muffed punts cost us giving points. Two blocked FG’s and we lost points. I wouldn’t even try to focus and make them over practice. Just show them the mistake and correct

Yep.

LSU gets the ball first and in 4 plays is inside the FSU 10. A horrible snap then results in a 14 yard loss...leading to a FG. After FSU goes up 7-3, LSU drives once more (overcoming a 2nd and 18 in the process) to the FSU 6. A false start backs them up on 3rd down. Daniels then throws what could have been a TD pass to Boutte...who wasn't looking for the ball...at all. FG is then blocked. That's 3 points out of what could have been 10-14 points

The special teams DEFINITELY have to be fixed. The defense has to find its way on 3rd down. Perhaps the DC is a little more trusting of the back 6-7 moving forward.
