If Devin White continues the play he has had so far this year. Next year he will get Heisman mentions. The dude is setting it on fire from that MLB position.

there's just zero chance of this happening.

Usually, the only way a defender gets Heisman love is when they have a lot of flashy plays, such as playing some offense, returning punts, pick-6s, scoop and scores, etc. (Charles Woodson, Honey Badger, Jabrill Peppers)

Usually, being a really good LB isn't enough.

Now I think that's unfortunate, because it excludes half of college players from Heisman contention, but it's the way it is.

I see Aranda wanting to stay because of his high salary and Devin White. If whites in Heisman contention next year, that would shine a major spotlight on his genius.

I too think DA rides out next year's DEF which should be top 10 in the nation, especially IF Jackson and/or Toliver return. Front seven will be bigger, stronger, more experienced and also add some new faces. LB's will definitely be improved and more physical, and the young secondary will be VERY good, borderline GREAT if the Jr's stick around.

Not only this, but he is the head coach in waiting. What other job (other than the NFL) could he get that would be better than LSU?

If we lose Aranda we're in big trouble. I don't see Canada going anywhere after one year.

Because it has been reported that he (Canada) and O have maybe not the best relationship. I can see him not wanting to coach under someone who he doesn't really like or respect.

Well, that could very well be true.

If I'm Canada, I stay at LSU for one more year. First, he's not hurting for money because he's compensated very well. Second, if he turns LSU's offense around and by next year has it a top 30 or even top 20 unit, he'd score a much better HC gig than if he bolts this year.

Just my two cents.

Both will stay as long as Ed continues to stay out of things

Aranda doesn't seem to me as a strong HC candidate for a major program.

Canada needs another year at a big program in order to get a Power 5 job.

Only on the rant can you discuss doomsday scenarios about rumors after finishing 10-3 with 20 freshman and asking if coaches will leave after that kind of success.

If you are a professional making millions and millennials are carrying you, you ride them.

I disagree.
If Aranda and/or Canada leave in year one or two, it will be viewed by coaches all over cfb as a no confidence vote for The Orgeron by talented, highly paid coordinators.
I think it is a given that getting new coordinators of the highest quality will be more difficult in that case.

Aranda has zero head coaching experience, and you want him to cut his teeth here?

Besides, from what I understand, he may not have a desire to be a head coach, with all the other things that requires.

Remember, some guys just want to be coordinators. Maybe Aranda is one of those guys.

Aranda? HC in waiting where? He will never be HC at LSU.

I wish that were not the case because I think he's the brightest coaching mind LSU has had in the past 20 years outside of Saban, but the current regime doesn't necessarily prioritize merit.

If we go 10-3 I will retract all my previous statements regarding Coach O.

If we can do that I will be fully ready to accept Coach O and forgive Alleva.

Although I will still say that we sucked arse the miss state and troy game, if that was what woke this team up then frick it. I cant be mad anymore.

I never said he would win it. Just said he would get mentions.

I know he had an amazing year, but Jonathan Allen was a top ten finisher. That year, Allen had 2 touchdowns off fumble recoveries(30yd, 75yd). Again, I know he's an outlier. But I believe if Devin White next year has a year like he is having this year + a couple freakish plays(fumble return for TD, Interception for TD) he could be mentioned also.

It depends on circumstance.

If either man leaves for a HC position or an NFL gig, it doesn't reflect poorly on O.

If either man leaves for a lateral position in college... yeah, that would be a bad look.

Not sure why either would leave yet considering all the young talent on both sides of the ball. I think we can possibly be playoff contenders next year but especially the next year with a junior Brennan and seasoned O-line.
