I’m not a defensive expert at all, but I thought it was weird that we had Savion in a 4 point stance. I could understand in goal line situations, but not the majority of plays… I could maybe see a NT in that stance, but not a DE. Can anyone explain why he did this?

Did you see how our defensive line was coached this year? They were awful. I hope they all forget what they learned this year because it sucked arse.

Its not standard, but becoming more common.

As big as he got, you'd think he will play tackle

I love Savion but it looks like his best position could/should be at DT. He looked stiff this season but down the stretch, I'll give him this, he hustled. That's all I ask of our players, play hard. That's what Tigers do.

Astonishing use of the word “are”.
The irony in your post is comedic gold.

Savion needs to get used to 4i instead of 4 point

He had difficulty maintaining containment. Moving inside with a few more pounds may work best for him and us.

I thought he should probably move inside BEFORE Wingo and Smith declared. May be a no-brainer now. Womack and Howard should be ready to step up and start at the end spots next year. Jones was too slow and terrible at keeping contain--two bad traits for a DE that aren't necessarily needed on the inside.

It really doesn’t seem like a bad move for him with the young talent we have on the edge and Shands and Swinson adding experience there. Might be best for him, as well.

My guess is to keep his pad level lower coming off the ball?

Let’s not try to figure out why Matt House did anything. It’s only going to make us angry.

The kid weighs 285. Make him a tackle. Can’t be worse than Smith

If you look at that beast, that stance gives him the ability to shift/wiggle/stutter step in either direction out the gate. But he’s also an unusually athletic monster.

When you speak your response and not speak clearly, this could happen. The cause could be coming from a person being in a rush to a board meeting or on their way to make a sales presentation. I dont think anyone gives one fk about a grammatical error.

Well he certainly wasn’t on his own considering just about EVERY DE that played this season for whatever reason none of them could keep containment & I swear this was the SLOWEST Defense I've ever seen at LSU. Even Perk seemed to have lost a step, im just really hoping it was scheme & effort related (D def didnt want to “Play for” House).

Tackling, angles & effort were just plain horrific all year & didn’t seem to improve either. Im confident Baker & the positional coaches he will bring in will be an immediate improvement over House & Co.

Exactly. For all the melting you’d think we were losing a ton of productivity there but I don’t see it. Honestly, grab a couple of warm bodies this spring out of the portal and move Smith inside. You’ve lost nothing.

Ideally you can get a good player or two out of the portal but damn let’s not act like Smith did anything this year. He was hardly a disruptive force.

A four point stance with staggered feet is for speed off the snap. If the feet aren’t staggered, it’s more likely to be used when playing 2 gaps.

The 4 point in the pic is very similar to a sprinter in the blocks.
