Saban gets a free pass because he came in, closed our recruiting borders, upgraded the facilities, recruited good character guys(graduating Seniors a good example), and got us a National Championship that most of us(if we are honest)thought we may never see(1958). Was he perfect, no. Did we lose some games that still doesn't sit well after being gone a few years, yes. When I look at that championship Advocate poster on my wall next to the one with Miles holding the Crystal, I will take the good with the bad with Saban and I graciously appreciate what he did here and what he left in the cupboard! He earned a free pass.

No disrespect to Miles, but he doesnt hold a candle to Saban's coaching abilities. Better man, yes, but coaching, no way.
First, Miles has a better overall record or win % than Saban....(.698 to .682) Strike 1
Second, Miles has a better record or win % than Saban at the same school....(.83 to .75)Strike 2
Third, Miles-the offensive mind, has better defenses than Saban-the defensive genious at LSU....(17.2 avg to 17.7)...this is including co-def coord, 4 pick 6s, and TWO TRIPLE OT games....Now if you want to compare both with single D-Coord's then it is Miles' (15.7) vs Saban's (17.7) and that is still including the TWO TRIPLE OT games in which the defensive numbers are grossly scewed. That's Strike 3.....
and Miles is a better man also

Miles came in after Saban to a team any coach could have won with. The players were in line and the program was as well. Little different when Saban came. Therefore comparing the too with the first 2 statements is unfair to Saban. Same can be said for your third statement. Saban brought in great defensive players that Miles used. Saban was also dealt a hand where he had to rebuild his D when he started here.

The arguments for your side are unfair and frankly just dumb.

Hey, Einstein. Little Nicky's last three seasons at LSU the Tigers were 30-9. Les Miles' first three seasons at LSU the Tigers were 33-6.

Little Nicky's last four seasons at LSU the Tigers were 40-12. For Les Miles' to have a record that bad the Tigers will have to LOSE FOUR more football games before the end of this season.

You do understand basic mathematics; Don't you? It was taught in First Grade when I went to school.

I wonder that too. As an LSU fan, I would have thought LSU fans would have shown support for the Team & the Coach who just brought the National Championship here in January 2008. Guess things have changed..
It's an instant gratification society that we live in. What have you done for me lately? and all of that. People have very short memories.

LOL at people still comparing Miles and Sabans records at LSU. Saban came after Dinardo. Miles came after Saban. Miles had a lot more to work with, even taking players out of this. better facilities, better fan base. The same will be said when Trent Johnson leaves, which I hope is never. The coach after him will have a better record at LSU then him because of what the two will be/ was left with.

Saban walked into a situation that would have given any coach a perpetual erection, namely the Tiger Athletic Foundation.

I hate to say it, but LSU through TAF is school that made it more profitable to be a mediocre college football coach than to find a cure for cancer. Little Nicky may well have filled the seats in Tiger Stadium, but TAF put them there and it is what payed for the academic center and all the other athletic upgrades. Anyone who does not realize that is an idiot.

Are you in Third Grade now? I understand math probably as well as anyone on this board. I like Miles as coach. I liked Saban as coach. But to compare their tenures strictly by wins and losses is flat out dumb. But hey, more dumbness to ya!

Yeah, a school that had the national label of "Coach Killer". LSU paid $1.6 million to lure Saban here. We were criticized at the time for the dollar amount. Joe Dean had dug such a mediocre mentality around here, people like you still embrace it.

Hey, dumbass. LSU could have had the money grubbing whore for a lot less. Little Nicky was not "lured" anywhere. Tubberville wanted the job until the SEC commissioner told him to back off and that is when Jimmy Sexton, Tubesteak's agent, started pimping Little Nicky, also his client. Saban approached LSU, not vice versa, and we got him because we had been shot down by every other decent college coach in America.

Exactly dumbfrick. LSU was no coaches dream job like you revisionists love to write about. Saban came here for the $$$ and built a program than won a NC in 4 years. Something LSU hadn't done in 45 years prior. But he sucked arse, I know. Sucks arse too now.

Yeah, Hallman, Dinardo, Pat Sullivan. Heck even Cooper, the ex HC of Ohio State said no thanks. Then Ohio State fired him.

Yeah they were lined up alright.

Wins and losses are not my only criteria.

Les Miles is articulate and constructs complete sentences. Little Nicky cannot say anything without including airight, in terms of, the process, and self gratification.

Les Miles is a loyal and devoted man. Little Nicky would stomp on his kids' pet hamster if someone paid him to do it. And make them watch.

The only reason honest and true people should dislike Saban - not pseudo arguments about his coaching skills.
