Saban came here for the $$$

That and the fact that Louisiana was a coach's dream of a recruiting area - and LSU was the only game in town.

If you don't believe me then believe Little Nicky. He said so himself.

And I will not provide a link. Find it yourself.

Find what myself? That LSU was a sleeping giant? A lot of us thought that. Bling boy did too. But like YOU said, who was coming here? We got shot down by all the big names. We still paid $$$ his money and he paid off - regardless if donks like you think so or not.

Miles is a great defensive coach. Good job, Corkey.

Miles came in after Saban to a team any coach could have won with. The players were in line and the program was as well. Little different when Saban came. Therefore comparing the too with the first 2 statements is unfair to Saban. Same can be said for your third statement. Saban brought in great defensive players that Miles used. Saban was also dealt a hand where he had to rebuild his D when he started here.
The arguments for your side are unfair and frankly just dumb.
It's not unfair because Miles acheived more with Saban's players than Saban did. Do you need me to put those stats too. You say it's unfair...OK. Forget about Saban's 1st two years....Fair enough? Miles 1st 3 years were still better than Saban's last 3 years. Another thing, LSU fired a 33-24-1 coach for 35-24-1 coach that lost 45-26 to the one that was fired. Big risk there. Dinardo, Watts, and Reeves could have very well accomplished what Saban did with the Clayton/ Spears class comimg to LSU regardless. Dinardo/Watts/Reeves were the coached that woke the sleeping giant. Dinardo/?/Tepper allowed the giant to doze off and Saban and the Clayton/Spears class re-awoken it. Dinardo was 26-9-1 and was still bringing in players like Bradie James, Trev Faulk, but Tepper's defensive schemes made 9-10 win teams into 4-3 win teams so Saban did not take over a program in shambles. LSU had very good talent when Saban arrived. LSU made Saban more than Saban made LSU. So to claim my arguments are unfair or dumb, you need to either quit pretending Saban came into a hopeless situation or compare Saban's last 3 years to Mile's 1st 3 years. I think I'm being fair and the pro-Sabans are the ones being unfair.

giving 2001 to dinardo, saban had 1 SEC title and 1 national title while building a program up from shite

miles has 1 SEC title and 1 national title while maintaining a well-oiled machine

saban got those guys to stay in state and go to LSU. don't forget marquise hill. all 3 were gone pecans without saban

will you be singing this tune if saban takes his rebuilding bama team to tiger stadium and beats our well-established LSU team in 2 weeks?

Who said that? I did say Miles was offensive minded and that his LSU team to date (47 games including the 4 pick six and the TWO TRIPLE OT games) was statistically better (17.2 avg) than the defensive genious Saban's teams (17.7 avg). The offensive wizzard's D was even better than the defensive guru when both had a single DC (15.7 to 17.7). Chew on that, Corkey.

and you don't think it's unfair to compare the absolutely sick loaded teams miles inherited to the demetrius hookfin-led teams that saban inherited?

miles had the most talented LSU team of all time in his 2nd year, so i'd expect that D to be amazing

Let's quit pretending LSU was in shambles when Saban got here because it wasn't. LSU was only a DC away in 1998 and DC/OC away in 1999 for being 9-10 win teams. LSU with good OC/DC's were 10-2 and 9-3 prior to these two years and were still recruiting very good players and had Clayton/Spear/Hill just on the horizon.

I didn't forget Hill, just assumed people would know what was meant from Clayton/Spears CLASS. You can give credit to Saban if you want to, but they were coming to LSU regardless even if you want to say such foolishness as "all 3 were gone pecans without saban".

the talent, esp in terms of tangible evidence like NFL selections (esp first day picks) doesn't back up this assessment

But 19-5 the previous 2 years and replacing Carl Reese/Morris Watts with Tepper/New Hampsire or whoever OC trumps any BS you come up with, including your statement above.

When will people learn! Saban won with GD players! He got a pass because he is good at intimidating weak people...and the south is full of weak-minded folks! Sorry, I know that the Truth hurts. This is why still even today, "The Lost Boys" suck up everybit of Shorty's bullshite! Eat up guys!!!

yes, saban did inherit some pretty good talent, but the most important factor was the general attitude and culture of losing or mediocrity that he inherited. that is why the 02 season was accepted. miles became our coach 2 years after winning a national championship. there is a little bit of a difference.
