Saban was coming off a 10-3 SEC Title season. Different stages, how so?

You gotta be kidding me. Dinardo left talent, but not 4 NFL first rounders in one draft type of talent. This is not meant to discount the job Les Miles has done, but you are drinking some kool-aid if you didn't see the differences in the state of the program.

1. Facilities. There was no Cox Academic Center, there was no Football Operations Center.

2. Aside from the '01 SEC Title...LSU hadn't won shite since the late 80's. Saban could only point to the hope of winning National Championships.

3. Talent. Again from my previous point. Saban, without looking at the previous draft results, left 6 1st round draft picks for Les. Dinardo left 0 I believe.

Again, Les Miles has been the shite up to this point, but don't think Saban did not improve the state of the program greatly.

This year they're undefeated and #2 in the nation. Next year they may lost 5 games

Which I guess should make it a little more forgivable for Miles to lose a couple games?

But they'll be in the SECCG this year in his second season, just like he did at LSU.

Very true - but they will have to beat LSU, Miss St, and/or Auburn...not that easy.

I like Saban, I like Les Miles.... I however do agree with most that we need to have 1 DC..and the CO-DC's are not cutting it. It'll be interesting to see what Miles does in the offseason.

I wonder that too. As an LSU fan, I would have thought LSU fans would have shown support for the Team & the Coach who just brought the National Championship here in January 2008. Guess things have changed..

I believe I've already posted that I simply believe Miles erred in his DC choice and that, since he's human, these things happen. I simply hope that he recognizes this fact and deal with it when the season is over. It aint like it's unprecedented. There are a few teams this year whose coaches had to go out and find someone other than the 1st folks they'd picked as coordinators recently. Think...Texas....UF.....for example. I still believe Miles can do very well as long as he does what has to be done.

For the last time, the angst has more to do with how we lost than the mere fact of our losses.

We didn't lose 24-21 squeakers, we got blown out and had two teams drop fifty on us.

Is the idiotic point Sammich is trying to make. Nevermind that this decade has been the greatest in terms of success in LSU history and it all started with Saban and commitment by LSU.

He lost 5 games in 2002. He lost to UAB in 2000. Blah blah blah.

I hate Saban threads. I appreciate what he did, but I come off sounding like he WAS GOD when I'm just giving him his due for helping make LSU into what it always COULD HAVE BEEN.

Now, we're getting 50+ hung on us with regularity and fans that are concerned are the azzholes? That's bullshite.

How hard is it for people to truly understand that losing to UF and UGA isn't the point. It's the defensive product we have on the field that resembles more or a bottom tier Big-12 defense than anything we've seen at LSU in a long time?

There were numerous mitigating factors.

Like this year? Losing Perrilloux pre-season?

Even in that down year, the defense never, ever, ever, ever performed as atrociously as it has this year against UF and UGA. Never. Ever

Even in our down year this year, our offense hasn't performed as atrociously as Saban's did that year at time....dude it works both ways....just be objective.

Sometimes I wonder if people are even thinking. Seriously; you'd compare taking over AFTER Dinardo and losing 5 to getting 50 hung on you twice after winning a MNC? Seriously?

some people will excuse anything.
they will coming up with justifications jsut not to accept the facts...amazing.

they can not handle the truth.

Jesus Christ, did you really need to start a new thread to reassert the same terrible argument that had already been rebutted in other, related threads?

Yep I did. Please tell me how it is a terrible argument? Isn't the purpose of hiring Coaches to
WIN as many games as possible PERIOD?

Or has that changed to Win games, but losses are OK as long as you have a strong Defense & look better losing?

Ding ding. I rememebr the first concerns in looking for a coach post Saban was that WE HAD to Maintain Defensive dominance. The prevailing thought on the rant was that we would rather have a killer defense than a killer offense. We had that up until mid-season last year.

The wheels are about to fall off on defense. We have been ranked in the Top 5 in defense since 2003....and Top 10 since 2002. This year, we're in the 100's.

The 1998 team had a bad arse offense....and terrible defense. We all saw how that season ended.

9-3. That team after 7 games had given up 120 points compared to 181 for this team.

17 ppg vs 26 ppg

Thanks to cupcakes non-SEC.

In SEC standings, LSU is 11th of 12 teams in scoring defense. And 9th of 12 in total defense. Yep, we're that bad.

Our QB, not our defense gave up 17 this last game and what, another 3 or so INTs returned for TDs this year? That 181 is misleading...more like 130.
