if Bertman would have opened the pocketbooks to keep him. Woodward would have. Bertman was not a good AD.

Bertman was a bad AD

Look at his hires and the junk pile we call the box.

LSU clearly had the resources to outbid Wayne Huizenga

I don't think so. He was going to test the NFL waters at some point.

Bertman was not going to outbid Wayne Huizenga.

Nick won a natty in college and wanted to jump to the NFL. He thought he could compete with Belichick. Lots of people thought he'd do well in the league.

He wasn't expected to flounder in the NFL and jump back to college. He's changed the college landscape but nobody envisioned that in 2004. Hindsight is 20/20.

LSU was another stepping stone for him. He viewed the NFL as his next conquest. It did not work out. The players did not respect him and mocked him to his face.

He realized his skills were meant for college coaching.

Saban was going to leave LSU at some point to test the NFL and I can’t fault him. We’re all just pissed he landed at Bama.

He was intent on failing in the NFL. LSU could do nothing.

Bertman’s place in LSU history is solidified, and should be unquestioned

His handling of Saban when he left and when he would have returned is not his bright spots

His version of things is somewhat revisionist history
