The results speak for themselves. USC has rarely finished above LSU in recruiting or portal rankings in recent history.

What are you even trying to argue?

Also the fact no one actually gives a shite about usc athletics vs Louisiana is all LSU all the time.

Our resources are deep, our access to talent is deep and our wallet despite outside appearances is very deep. We also have elite NFL level facilities. Also much easier to get the resources here vs USC.

Not a hard take:
1. Oakland- has exactly one winning season since he departed

2. USC got hammered for Reggie Bush issues in his first season. Haven’t been relevant since the infamous tarmac.

3. Tennessee- made a stupid young man decision there who knows what could have been.

4. FAU- was successful in a program that can’t compete with the big boys

5. Ole Miss- brought relevance to a program that hasn’t been relevant prior post integration.

I think it has been well established that Saban really liked his stay in Baton Rouge. He also told Jimmy Sexton that he wanted to be "the next Bear Bryant," rather than the "next Don Shula."

But it was clear at the time that Saban desired to test the waters in the NFL. If you recall, he was getting interest from NFL teams every year he was in Baton Rouge. I've seen it written many years ago that he told Skip around Thanksgiving that he loved it here, but that the Dolphins were giving him everything possible (not only head coach, but also general manager). If he turned it down, he was giving up on the NFL, and he didn't want to do that.

I think he really was torn over the decision. Mostly, he didn't realize how different the 2005 NFL was from the 1994 NFL he remembered. Unfortunately, the only big team looking for a coach in the 2006 cycle was the one place that rewards great coaches the most.

They have a coaching staff that can coach. LSU is in a fertile recuiting area.

Don't tell me Dri-fit can coach. He is a fraud. Louisiana dwarfs Cali recruiting. And I am an an Ag just being honest.

And oh, he left willingly.....most likely because he didnt feel like LSU would give him what he needed in the long term.

Only relevant losses are Mendoza, Ponds and Coogan. Rest of team is returning or upgraded. DB from Penn State has a higher ceiling that Ponds. Hoover may be a better fit in that system than Mendoza.

Their OL, front 7, and RB/WR rooms are actually upgraded
