One of my favorite baseball Tigers. Just lined a double in first AB with the Padres. They just announced he led all of minors in OPS.

ETA: Just hit in to score

His Jr year he was so legit. Actually if yall remember that was a pretty good year for the team. I'm most surprised matt clark isn't in the majors and j mitch hasn't sniffed the majors.

Damn 8 years of minors? That is some serious dedication.

Haven't seen if it changed since LSU, but his swing was sweet. Compact and quick.

His swing has been the same since high school at SPS. Pretty awesome to see a person you played with actually make it to the big leagues. It was just as crazy seeing him tearing it up at LSU and win a natty. Can't believe it took him this long to make his debut but definitely think he will stay on the roster.

He always had a ton of pop for his size, but I think the guys on Tiger Rag Radio last night--I only caught a couple of minutes--said he was a career ,250ish hitter in his minor league career before this year. But now he's hitting like .355 with 15 bims and that ridiculous OPS. Quite the improvement. Hopefully he just figured it out. It takes some guys longer than others, but 8 years is not the norm for that sort of jump. And damn that '09 team was stacked.

One of my favorite baseball Tigers.
At the 2009 CWS I walked past Ryan and his mom standing by the elevator in the team hotel where we were staying. This was a few days after the MLB draft.

I asked him, "Ryan, are you ready to spend some of that big check you're about to get?"

He grinned and said, "Yes, I am!"

His mom said, "He's going to save most of it!"

He's my wife's uncle's son in law, so obviously him and I are best friends

Always one of my favorites, and glad to see him have success.

They were neighbors of one of my cousins and I think one of their kids was at St. Paul with him during that time too.
